It's getting closer to the start of the 2019/20 summer season so things are getting busier here at FSC. Registrations are now open for the Dinghy Racing Summer Season and of course our big event of the year, Sail Freo (Check out the T-Shirt Competition!) This week we have normal mid week. This Saturday we will be running so informal racing for optimist silver and gold fleets as a part of some volunteer training. All the information and more below. Midweek Coaching Schedule This Weekend Upcoming Events Dinghy BBQ Breakfast This Saturday 21st September the Dinghy Section is hosting a BBQ Brekkie cook up from 8:30am. We've invited some members from across all other sections of Fremantle Sailing Club so we can give them a taste of our fun community, family friendly atmosphere. All Dinghy sailors and parents are encourage to come down and join the fun Meet the Champions | Friday, 27th September - 5:30 pm Let's celebrate the latest Fremantle Sailing Club Champions! FSC has produced some fantastic sailors over the years, join us to on Friday 27th September to hear the stories and celebrate the success of the latest round of FSC Champions. Meet the Champions will be held in the Sailor's Bar (Main Clubhouse) at 5:30pm. Open to all members and guests. Food and nibbles will be provided. West Sail 2019 Westsail will take place at Royal Freshwater Bay Yacht Club from Saturday 28 to Tuesday 1 October 2019. West Sail is an 4-day coaching clinic that gives sailors of all levels a chance to learn from some of the countries best coaches. With so many sailors from all across the metro and state in one place, West Sail is always an amazing experience for both the sailing and friendships. Click here to Register for Westsail and/or the Youth Championships 2019/20 Dinghy Racing Season The Dinghy Racing Summer Series runs from October to May, making the most of the superb sailing condition served up on the waters off Freo. A great variety of classes take to the water including Optimists, Lasers, 420, 29er, 5o5, SB20 and more. Getting involved in the Dinghy Racing is a great way to enjoy the thrills and spills proved by the Freo Doctor, the friendly competition racing and of course the company of sailors, parents and volunteers that share a passion for wind and water. Registrations, Sailing Instructions, schedule, safety audit process etc is all available on the Dinghy Website HERE Season Opening Day Fremantle Sailing Club Season Opening Day is coming up on Saturday 5th October. This means having the Dinghy Section out in force for the sail past followed by the start of the 2019-20 Dinghy Racing Summer Series. Best Dressed We'll be holding a Best dressed boat competition, so get creative, get colourful and get busy! Best dressed boat will be judged during the sail past. $100 FSC Food & Beverage Voucher up for grabs! TRY SAIL | Registrations now open for Summer Courses & filling fast! Try Sail is the first step in the Kids Learn to Sail Program here at Fremantle Sailing Club. The Try Sail is a FREE course designed to give both kids and families the chance to experience sailing and see if the sport is right for them. Try Sail is open to kids 7-10 years old. No previous sailing experience required. The kids will sail in small optimist trainer dinghies designed specifically for kids to learn to sail in. All sailing equipment including life jacket is provided. Try sail runs over 4 Saturday mornings (8:30am to 11:30am) each month during the summer sailing season (September to April). The Try Sail course is limited to 10 spots each month. October School Holiday Coaching Clinic Fremantle Sailing Club will be hosting a three day coaching clinic in the second week of the October School Holidays. Coaching Clinics are a great time to develop your skills and take your sailing to the next level in a short period of time. It is open for Green, Bronze, Silver and Gold level sailors from all clubs. No better way to have fun and sharpen up your sailing before the start of the sailing season. Green Fleet sailors will be able to enjoy the atmosphere and buzz of Sail Freo while having fun on the water under the supervision of Fremantle coaches and parent volunteers. This weekend just gone saw a bunch of sailors having a go sailing on a 505. It wasn't only restricted to the adults. Kids, Parents, Grandparents along with friends were seen going for a lovely sail on Saturday afternoon. This was also equally as well received post sailing where the WA 505 Association put on burgers & drinks. It was fantastic to see sailors of all abilities & age just messing around in boats having fun. Thanks to everyone who partook & assisted on the day.
