By the Mentees and Mentors of Girls Write Now

Her soul is like a galaxy and I am merely an astronaut trying to uncover it all. The stars envy her because they too know that they cannot hold a candle to her beauty. I swear I’ve never loved someone more in my life.
-Mentee Tatyanna Wills, from "What Am I Made Of?"

Prompt of the Week

It All Started With A Riot

by Sam Arriozola, Girls Write Now Fellow

..."riot" being a term used to describe the uprising at Stonewall in 1969, and what "it started" being a full blown revolution. June means it's officially summer, and with the heat and sun-blessed skin comes Pride Month. It's a time for queer folks of all identities and orientations to celebrate our incredible shine that we bring to the world (you're welcome @ everyone). So let's get celebrating:

Write an ode to your best self. To help you out, consider: Who is your "best self"? Where can you be your "best self"? With who can you be your "best self"? And because this is an ode, this is basically an excuse to brag about YOU. So get free, and get writing!
