Departments just need to refer any unregistered workers to us, and confirm that a worker is registered with us before they do any work. This approach, which we have developed with the Casual Worker User Group, will:
Rewards Extra: choose your level of participation in our employee benefits schemeRewards Extra offers staff a range of voluntary benefits plus retail discounts and special offers. As we work with a benefits partner, Edenred, to supply these benefits, we want to let staff know what information is shared with them if they choose to participate. We also understand that not everyone makes use of the scheme, so we're asking those who want to continue to have access to Rewards Extra to let us know. Without your consent, we will stop passing your details to Edenred - either from October or when any existing benefits end. This means you won't have immediate access to the discounts and benefits on offer. However, no existing benefits will be interrupted, and you can opt in again (or out) at any time.
*Reminder* Career progression for women at York: ideas soughtThe University was founded on the principles of excellence, equality and opportunity for all. However, our recent gender pay gap report reminds us that we still have a low number of women in more senior roles. Addressing this gap is a strategic priority for the University. We want ideas and input from all staff groups to help shape our plans, and invite you to contribute through ideas sessions that will run in July and August.
Development opportunitiesStaff in grades 7 and 8 for places can apply for our next development and assessment centre. The centre will run on 16 and 17 October. Aimed at staff who hold leadership positions without having formal line management responsibilities. It's made up of five modules spread over six days with further coaching sessions between modules. Apply by midday on Friday 27 July An introduction to management and supervisory skills. Get an insight into your own understanding, ability and mindset towards management. Runs on 2 October and 14 November. Performance and developmentOn 6 August 2018, Heads of Department will receive access to their departmental performance and development review (PDR) sheet, to be filled with PDR outcomes for staff in their departments. This year's sheets have been updated in line with the changes agreed following this year's PDR consultation exercise, but the process for completion is the same. Due to the simpler ratings structure for this year's PDRs, all staff are now listed on one sheet, simplifying completion for Heads of Department or their nominated member of staff. Initially we only grant access to this to Heads of Department. If additional staff need permission to update the sheet, please contact us at hr-comms-info-team@york.ac.uk. Feedback on the Recruitment ProcessHave you recruited in the past 12 months? If so, we would appreciate your feedback through our recruitment survey. We are looking at the different stages of the recruitment process in order to identify which improvements would have the maximum impact for recruiting managers. The questionnaire should take no more than ten minutes to complete and your participation would be greatly appreciated. |
