Each year our students amaze their teachers, UDA staff, families, and peers with their incredible and diverse talents, and 2018 was no different. Our students poured their hearts into their songs, dances, jump rope choreography, jokes, circus acts, and magic tricks, and we couldn’t be more proud of them. Congrats to our performers on their courage and hard work! Spirit WeekOur students showed their pride for UDA throughout 4 spirit filled days last week. From pajamas and crazy hair, to characters and throwbacks, UDA burst with spirit! Wednesday Programming, Fall 2018Our Wednesday Programs provide our students with opportunities for enrichment on minimum days, and we are seeking your input on programming for the fall of 2018. Musical Theater PerformancePlease join our Wednesday Programming students enrolled in the Center Stage Children’s Theater class for their final musical performance of the year. This full production is bound to have you smiling, laughing, and singing along. We hope to see you Wednesday, June 13 at 2:30pm in the Stage. Exhibition NightsSave the date! Our spring Exhibition Nights will be held from 5-6:30pm on Wednesday, June 6 for 5th-8th grades, and Thursday, June 7 for TK-4th. Bring your family and your appetite! Bread & Cheese and Fern’s Semi-Famous BBQ will be serving up some tasty selections for purchase beginning at 4:30pm in the parking lot. RockSTAR Performance at the House of BluesOur young RockSTARS are getting amped up to once again rock the house at San Diego’s House of Blues on Tuesday, June 5! Third GradeThird graders visited classrooms around campus to explain why they are making an effort to compost. Students served as Food Waste Ambassadors during each lunch period and helped students sort recycling, landfill trash, and vermicompostable food waste. Food waste data was collected, measured, and graphed afterwards to compare the amount of waste during each lunch period. Sixth GradeIn conjunction with their trimester project on social justice, 6th grade recently visited Chicano Park to learn about its history, the stories embedded within the mural art, and the social activism that led to its creation. Visual ArtsStudents in 6th grade are exploring geometric forms while making colorful lanterns. Camp Urban SolThis summer, the UDA Foundation will once again host Camp Urban Sol, an assortment of half-day courses taught by credentialed teachers. Participating students will continue to learn over summer through hands-on activities, experiments, community adventures, and play. July 9-August 3, 2018 A Message from Network ParentsSummer Kick-Off Social Coffee Social Top Notch LunchesTo order a hot lunch for your child, first create an account with Top Notch. User accounts from last year do not carry over, so all parents must register for the 2017-2018 year. To register, click on “Order Online Today” from the homepage, then select “Register.” On this page, you will need to enter the password for UDA, which is URA6. Upon entering the password, you will be able to complete the registration process by creating your own username and password. Families that meet the free or reduced qualification according to this form will receive discounted Top Notch lunches. The discount will be automatically applied to each order. Online orders must be placed by 6pm on the day before the lunch delivery. Top Notch can not supply lunches requested after this deadline.
