Community Connections: Friends of the Library
The Friends of the Guelph Public Library  13th Annual GIANT Book Sale will take place the weekend of October 25 to 27, 2019 at 69 Huron Street in Guelph, Ontario.

Early Bird Entrance: Friday 1 to 4 p.m. - $10  (children under 14 years old are free if accompanied by an adult).
Closed Friday from 4 to 6 p.m.

Free Admission:

*  Friday 6 to 9 p.m.
*  Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
*  Loonie Sunday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.  (Most items are $1 or less)

From the Archives: Celebrate Canadian Library Month
A strong library system is the cornerstone of a great community! Did you know in 2018, over 1.45 million people visited one of the six Guelph library locations and over 46,000 people attended the library's events?

This October, take time to celebrate your library and recognize the important contribution libraries make to education, literacy and life-long learning in our thriving community. A Visit Will Get You Thinking.

Program Room Attend this introductory and experiential workshop about mindfulness. Attendees are encouraged to attend all four parts of this workshop. Presented by the Centre for Mindfulness Studies.
Program Room Have you always wanted to be a plant parent? Local houseplant blogger Anna, of Plant Anna Plant (@plantannaplant), will share tips on how to care for houseplants and create an indoor jungle.
Psychic Janice Moffat will bring forward messages of hope, support and the trust that your loved ones are still with you. Please register.

Improve your reading skills and practice speaking English. Short stories, articles and essays will be discussed during this 6-week session. For intermediate level English language learners.  Register once for the entire 6-week session.

Volunteer: It's good for your health and the community!​
According to the McMaster Optimal Aging Portal, ​civic participation helps older adults enjoy healthier, more engaged and active lives. Groups and organizations can also build relationships, and reduce social isolation and loneliness. 

If you'd like to volunteer with the library, please visit our About Us page for a selection of opportunities. Friends of the Guelph Public Library are also looking for assistance with the 2019 Giant Book Sale, the 13th annual GIANT fundraiser running from October 25 to 27, 2019. Follow the links to the sign-up calendar if you’re able to offer a hand with Sorting, Pre-sale Site Set-up, Book Sale Weekend, or Post-sale Cleanup. And thank you for all that you do!
