Click to read more Homelessness Week: 7 - 13 August 2017 The 2017 theme for Homelessness Week is ‘Action and Innovation’ in which we highlight the many effective approaches specialist homelessness services have implemented to prevent and respond to homelessness. Homelessness Week 2017 also comes on the back of recent Federal Government announcements around the provision of funding to address homelessness and the affordable housing crisis. From 1 July 2018, federal homelessness and housing funding will change into one new combined agreement, the National Housing and Homelessness Agreement. Challenge for the community to Make Healthy Normal Central and Eastern Sydney PHN is encouraging their communities to take small steps to Make Healthy Normal in their day-to-day lives. With over half of adults and more than one in five children in NSW being overweight or obese, we are living in an environment where unhealthy eating habits and a lack of physical activity have become ‘normal’. How the NDIS can help your child Our new Engaging with the NDIS webpage provides information tailored to the community and health professionals in one convenient location. Click to read more Reimagine Today: New website to help navigate the NDIS This month the Mental Health Coordinating Council have launched the Reimagine.today website, an initiative funded by the NDIA. The site aims to assist people with psychosocial disabilities to better understand how the NDIS can support them, as well as guide carers and service providers to assist in the NDIS application process Nominations for the 2017 National Disability Awards are closing soon! The Awards are the Australian Government’s main celebration of International Day of People with Disability, aiming to honour and recognise the outstanding achievements of individuals, teams and organisations that have improved the lives of Australians with disability and contributed to increased recognition of equality and human rights for all Australians.
