MEDIA RELEASE: New psychiatry support line available for Sydney GPs
Central and Eastern Sydney PHN is excited to announce the launch of a new psychiatry advice service for general practitioners in central and eastern Sydney. Commencing on 2 July 2018, all general practitioners practising in the Central and Eastern Sydney PHN region will have access to a psychiatrist via a telephone support line to assist them in managing the mental health care of their patients.

The new NSW Immunisation Schedule has been released, effective from 1 July 2018. The schedule changes, schedule (including A3 poster) and FAQs are now live on the NSW Health website.

Immunisation FAQ: Can I give Menitorix (MenC/HibB) to 18 month olds?
The advice from the Ministry of Health is as follows: if a child born between 1 January 2017 and 30 June 2017 received their 4th dose of Hib at 12 months then they do not need to have another dose at 18 months. It is, however, safe for them to have it if the parent/carer or GP want them to have an additional dose (5th dose). If a child requires Hib vaccination at 18 months then Act-Hib or Menitorix can be used (provided it has been at least eight weeks since the child received a Meningococcal containing vaccine).

Release Two of the National Cancer Screening Register (NCSR)
Release Two of the National Cancer Screening Register (NCSR) will be live and operational from 29 June 2018. From 29 June 2018, the NCSR will be able to provide healthcare providers with their patients’ full cervical screening history regardless of which state or territory their test was performed in. NAIDOC
NAIDOC Week celebrations are held across Australia each July to celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. The week is a great opportunity to participate in a range of activities and to support your local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community. The theme for 2018 NAIDOC celebrations is Because of her, we can! All events listed below are free to attend and all are welcome:
We understand that emergencies and unforeseen circumstances do arise and you might not be able to attend a CPD event that you have registered for. As we provide catering at these events, if people do not attend, the total numbers catered for still needs to be paid for by CESPHN. There are also circumstances with some events that we may have a waiting list, so if you cannot attend this might mean someone else can.
Therefore, if you do register to attend one of our CESPHN CPD events and can no longer attend, it would be greatly appreciated if you could please notify us by calling 1300 986 991 or emailing events@cesphn.com.au at your earliest convenience. This may result in being able to reduce the numbers, which in turn will reduce the costs and could also allow for someone else to attend in your place if they are on a waiting list.
In addition, as many of our venues have a maximum capacity for attendees, there are times where events are fully booked and we therefore may not be able to accommodate ‘walk ins’ on the night. As a result, it is essential that you register to attend our events to secure your place.
