3 Twitter Tips to Grow Your Real Estate Business
Now that hundreds of thousands of agents are utilizing Facebook, many wonder what other social sites can help boost their business.
Enter Twitter, the second most visited social network behind Facebook. The site has over 600 million visitors, many being home buyers and sellers.
Here are 3 tips to hit the ground running with Twitter.
Establish your brand, Twitter-style.
It's important to establish consistent branding wherever you have a web presence. For Twitter, this means: including your personal brand name; using a professional photo for your profile pic; a branded cover photo and/or background; a short description of your business; your location, and a link to the site that brings you the highest ROI.
Make sure you include key words like 'real estate agent' in your bio to boost your ranking in search engines.
If you have personal interests you're passionate about, you can include a few descriptors in your bio. People like to know about you beyond your job as an agent.
Seek out relevant people to follow and start growing your following.
Find relevant people to connect with on Twitter. Search your town and farm areas to see if anyone is talking about them, then join in on the conversation. For example, you could search for #Nashville, find people talking about a popular event, then tweet to participants in the conversation. Other popular search terms include the hashtags #RealEstate, #homes and #OpenHouse.
The hash tag #RealEstate has been trending on and off for two weeks now, so agents are well-positioned to join the conversation.
Don't forget to ask your friends and clients to follow you!
Post a mix of interesting and/or informative tweets that promote engagement.
Tweet about topics including local events, market information, area news, home buyer and seller tips, questions, open houses, and your listings. Avoid tweeting a stream of listings only.
Twitter is an arena where you can tweet personal interests that your fans may have in common with you. For example, if you love skiing, tweeting a photo of your recent ski trip may attract like-minded clients in your area.
Remember, every item you tweet can be seen by virtually anyone on Twitter (unless you adjust your privacy settings), so be sure your tweets give the best possible representaton of your personal brand.
