Lord Rees

Lord Martin Rees, Baron of Ludlow and Astronomer Royal, is one of the most decorated scientists of the current generation. His accolades include: the Crafoord Prize and the Michael Faraday Award, being gifted the Order of Merit by the Queen in 2007 and being the president of the Royal Society from 2005-2010.

Lord Rees will be joining Professor Brian Schmidt as the moderator of the Big science, new collaborations and engagement with society: SKA as a 21st Century exemplar session.

Jo Johnson

Jo Johnson is Minister of State for Universities and Science and has been a member of parliament since 2010. His career started in a very different vein from politics; writing for the Financial Times after a stint in investment banking.

Mr Johnson will be taking part in the plenary address given by Commissioner Moedas on Monday 25 July.

Professor Jacqueline McGlade

Jacqueline McGlade is currently Chief Scientist and Director of UNEP’s Division of Early Warning and Assessment. Her interests lie in the management of our environment and the sustainability of our planet along with the dynamics of ecosystems and planetary systems.

She will be giving a keynote speech on the morning of Tuesday 26 July.
