PIP Conference Embodies "Investing with Purpose" Theme
Sarah Abrahams captures the excitement in the crowd on opening day.

Investing with Purpose was the theme of the 2016 Partners in Prevention Conference, and you, our providers and partners, gave life to this intention. With more than 700 people attending, PIP 2016 drew our largest attendance ever. Most sessions were filled, and many were overflowing. Your social engagement was also noted with many noteable tweets posted using #pipcon2016.

What was your favorite session or speaker? Was it Andy Goodman's raucous opening keynote or Dr. Judy Cameron's Brain Architecture Game? Were you moved by the screening of Paper Tigers, the riveting film documenting the lives of young adults and linking early experiences with adolescent behaviors? Later this month we will release an in-depth conference recap, and we would love to feature your big takeaways. Send your feedback to homevisiting@dfps.state.tx.us

Training Partnership with The Ounce Reignited

PEI re-launched its online training partnership with The Ounce of Prevention Fund at PIP 2016. The partnership, originally between Texas Home Visiting and The Ounce, now extends to all PEI home visiting partners. The Ounce's Achieve OnDemandâ„¢ platform is intended to supplement basic training requirements and is applicable across all program models. Among the growing list of topics are trauma-informed practice, infant mental health and building relationships with families, with two courses specifically for supervisors. More information is available through your project manager. You can access the trainings through Achieve OnDemand at no cost.

Host or Purchase Your Own Paper Tigers Screening

More than 75 people turned out for a private screening of the film "Paper Tigers" at the 2016 Partners in Prevention Conference. Since then, many people have asked how they can bring the documentary to their community. If you would like to host a screening, the documentary is available through Tugg Media. A one-time screening license is available for use in schools, community organizations and other nontraditional screening locations. As host, you would provide the venue, projector and audience, and Tugg Media will provide the film and promotional material to make the screening a success.

Another option is to purchase the film with a public-screening license. This option includes a DVD with subtitling and chapter breaks, a discussion guide, and a video toolkit of unique educational segments. To bring this award-winning documentary to your community, contact Tugg Media.
