Hello from Avalon ladies and gentlemen. For all things aviation this week, you can't go past Defence Week Premium and the ADM Twitter feed at @austdefence for the latest news. Stop by the ADM stand in Hall 2 if you
need a break and some chocolate with the team.
It's also been a big week for submarines as the debate over what a competitive evaluation process actually looks like for the players the government announced. Swedish contender Saab is out of the competition at this stage but still hopes to get back into the running at a later date I understand. Having spent a week in Sweden this month exploring their technology and meeting with government/defence officials, I can understand their desire all too well.
I would also like to take this opportunity to mention the passing of LTCDR David Barnes of the RAN Submarine fleet and offer our condolences to his family and friends. He was the nephew of publisher Judy Hinz who is currently on leave.
Cheers,
Katherine Ziesing
