The S4S conference will provide students with the opportunities to network with peers and industry professionals. The conference theme, "HOPE for the future", will explore the social and environmental impacts of our society and focus on empowering our youth with knowledge and skills to lead into an uncertain future.

The conference streams will focus on food, ethics and environment with the underpinning notions of sustainability, design and innovation.

S4S differs from other student-led conferences as it is a multi-disciplinary conference for students with the aim to provide and improve communication and presentation skills in a professional and supportive environment.

Terrains RHD Symposium

Date: 5 June 2015
Time: 9.00am - 4.30pm
Venue: Singapore Theatre, MSD Building

Abstract due date: 17 April 2015
Audience registration due date: 31 May 2015

The disciplines of architecture and education are witnessing a burgeoning interest in designing learning environments for contemporary education. There is growing evidence that designers and teachers are working closer than ever before to build spaces to meet the needs of 21st century learners. But are these spaces working as intended?

The Evaluating 21st Century Learning Environments Linkage Project team, in association with the University of Melbourne’s Learning Environments Applied Research Network, invite current or recent research higher degree students to submit papers for the 2015 Terrains International RHD Symposium.

Intensively-taught elective subject ABPL90372 Traditions: 'Real', Hyper & Virtual

Dates: 29 June to 12 July, 2015 (Monday to Friday)

Traditions: 'Real', Hyper & Virtual is a once-off intensive elective subject to be taught by visiting Professor Nezar AlSayyad from University California, Berkeley.

The seminar aims to bring together students who have an interest in the concept of “tradition”. It is designed to give a detailed overview of the discussion of tradition and its particular relation and intersection with the built environment.

Starting with more conservative approaches regarding the concept of traditional environments, variously framed as vernacular, indigenous or organic, this course will move into more critical investigations of the use of tradition in architecture and urbanism.

Photography Competition Open Now!

What does a black and white photograph tell us about a building? Does the absence of colour focus our eyes on the essence of the architecture, or does it simply distract us from the neons and pastels of human life?

Photographs without colour - similar to renders - paint a selective picture of what a piece of architecture really is.

In 2015, Inflection Vol. 02: Projection needs a greyscale image of a building that tells the story beyond its projected facade. It must relate to the theme of 'projection'. The winning photo will be published on the cover of the 2015 issue of Inflection.

Entries close April 27, 2015
