Adolfo Echeverría’s unique style is rooted in that coastal resort which has nurtured many leading musicians in the Tropical style. His distinctive vocal style is refreshingly light and nasal, with a strangely attractive delivery and occasional vagueness that leaves words fading in the air.
A fabulously languid production where instruments move casually around the cool, jaunty piano, and short trombone refrains emerge as if from sea-mist. The pianist sneakily fragments the melody into jumpy, bebop-like chords in a briefly spiky jam session before the singer returns.
