Bower Studio completes neonatal centre in Papua New Guinea

Sixteen MSD students and staff from the Bower Studio have worked to construct a neonatal centre and composting toilet in the remote coastal village of Suanum.

Helped by the community, the team sweated it out over eight days working with timber, plywood, corrugated iron and lots of nails to complete the four-bed centre.

The Suanum community suffers significant levels of infant mortality. To make matters worse the people are already noticing the effects of rising sea levels. The new clinic was built further inland on a hillside to protect it from storm surges.
