This annual event showcases ten PhD students explaining their research in just three short minutes using only one PowerPoint slide. Our finalists worked hard to get here, practicing and honing their research communication skills and competing in the University heats. But all too often researchers shy away from social media because they see it as a distraction from their research work. In this seminar Paul Willis will explain why social media is so important for researchers and how to create a social media network that tells the story of their research. NewsUniversity of Adelaide Three Minute Thesis FinalThe 2018 Three Minute Thesis (3MT) final was held on 11 September as part of the Research Tuesdays series. Ten impressive PhD candidates from across all faculties presented their research to the public in just three minutes. Congratulations to all finalists. It was an informative and entertaining evening with all participants doing an amazing job of delivering clear, concise, and engaging presentations. The eventual winner was Bernard Evans from the Adelaide Medical School with his presentation “What Dragonflies can Teach us About Motion Adaptation”. Bernard also took out the People’s Choice Award. A third prize, the ThincLab Award, was awarded to Chidozie Alozie from the School of Education for his presentation “The New Problem We All Live With”. Bernard now has the opportunity to compete at the final of the Asia-Pacific 3MT competition in Brisbane. The final will be streamed live so you can support Bernard by visiting the 2018 Asia-Pacific 3MT website on 27 September 2018. Good luck Bernard!
