Bridge to Brisbane 2016 finishing in South Bank

The iconic Sunday Mail Suncorp Bank Bridge to Brisbane will finish at South Bank for the very first time, celebrating its 20th year in 2016.

The event will finish at Little Stanley Street and will draw an estimated 30,000 people to the area. Runners are expected to arrive between 7am and 11am on the day. The event’s route was changed this year due to the upgrade works that will be taking place on Kingsford Smith Drive during the event.

During the event build and dismantle period, the event organisers will take care to reduce noise on Little Stanley Street wherever possible, including during lunch and dinner trading periods.

To accommodate the event at South Bank, the following road closures will be in place:

This year, competitors are invited to take advantage of special ‘bib-ileges’ from South Bank retailers to celebrate their accomplishment (including from BSB members The Charming Squire and Pig N Whistle West End).

If you have any questions or concerns about the Bridge to Brisbane’s new finish location, please contact the event organisers on b2b@emsaustralia.net.au or 07 3139 0397.

Brisbane Metro Information Session

BSB members are invited to an information session on one of Brisbane’s most significant public transport projects, Brisbane Metro Subway System.

With much of the inner-city bus network already at capacity, Brisbane Metro Subway System will deliver a high-frequency subway system that will cut travel times, reduce CBD congestion and provide more buses to the suburbs.

BSB encourages members to attend this session and hear from Maree Kovacevic, Project Director, Brisbane Metro Subway System, Brisbane City Council, who will share information on the opportunities for the precinct as a result of the project and will be available to take questions.

Time: 10.00am to 10.45am
Date: Tuesday, 16 August 2016
Venue: BSB Auditorium, 70 Merivale Street, South Brisbane

Key Take Aways: The Power of the Brand and Email Marketing

BSB's recent Professional Development session had a record number of attendees who were lucky enough to hear from our fantastic speakers Nick Pritchard, Creative Strategist at Nick Pty Ltd and Lauren Duffy, Digital Marketer at Vision6.

Nick and Lauren shared some great tips for how to embed your brand into the hearts and minds of your target audience, and how to generate leads and boost sales with email marketing.

Key take aways from the sessions included:

  • 5 Steps to Build a Better Brand - Differentiate, Collaborate, Innovate, Validate and Cultivate.
  • A brand is not a logo, an identity or a product - it's a person's gut feel about a product, service or organisation - an emotional, human response.
  • When email marketing, always have a clear and persuasive call to action - and repeat this throughout.
  • Don't ignore other communication channels - make sure your emails are optimized for mobile, and leverage your social media channels by creating content that you can share across them.
