Enjoy Intimacy After Prostate Cancer

Prostate cancer and its treatment can be overwhelming for couples, who are grappling with both physical and emotional ups and downs. It's easy to put intimacy aside, but actually, there's no better time to nurture a relationship.

In the midst of sexual challenges, such as erectile dysfunction (ED) and low desire, it's important for couples to stay connected. This can mean learning more about prostate cancer together, talking openly and honestly, and being willing to make adjustments as needed.

About 7% of Women Have Distressing Lack of Sexual Desire, Study Finds

Hypoactive sexual desire disorder (HSDD) can be a complex problem for women and their partners. In general terms, women with HSDD have low libido that can't be easily explained. It's also accompanied by distress. 

How many women have HSDD?  Scientific studies have had varying results. However, new research involving 701 American women suggests a prevalence rate of 7.4%. 

During in-person interviews, the researchers asked the women questions about their sexual health, overall health, and the approaches used to get help for HSDD.

​Sexual incontinence - leaking urine during foreplay, penetration, or orgasm - is a troubling situation that makes it hard to enjoy intimacy. And many people aren't aware that it can be treated effectively.

​"Doggy Style" Sex Leaves Men Prone to Penis Fracture

​The penis does not contain any bones, but it can still be fractured.

The fracture is actually a tear in the tunica albuginea, the membrane that surrounds the spongy tissue that fills with blood when a man has an erection. 

​Recently, the International Journal of Impotence Research published a study of 90 men who had fractured their penis. Just over three-quarters of the men did so during sex, with the "doggy-style" and man-on-top positions accounting for the most fractures.
