WAKE UP YOUR PIZZATalia di Napoli, an authentic pizza brand in Naples, preserves their pizzas using cryogenics as they emerge from the wood ovens. These “sleeping pizzas” are then shipped to the U.S and woken up in home ovens in under 10 minutes. The range of pizzas include Margherita, Bianca, Primavera, Friariella, Four Cheese, Tartufina and Gluten-Free Margherita for an indulgent taste of Italy. The pizzas can be ordered online and shipped to the U.S. for $11.99. U.K pizza chain, PizzaExpress, have also launched a range of quick, Romana-style home pizzas. The range includes the Carbonara, Vegetable & Ricotta, Pollo American, including chicken, pepperoni and grilled red onion; The Ragu and the vegan Margherita Speciale all on an extra thin base. 2. PERI-PERI FESTIVALA Nando’s peri-peri festival is making an appearance in London, featuring a glorious brunch menu. For Nando’s lovers, you can enjoy boasting music, supper clubs, fashion and of course food for a total of 3 weeks. Nando’s signature breakfast will be on offer, serving peri-peri flamed chicken sausage or the staple maple pancakes. The menu available is only currently on offer at 2 locations in the UK and provides something for everyone, including their new sauce – LimePERInaise. 3. BRITAIN'S INTERNATIONAL MEALS A survey finds that Brits have up to 8 international meals a week. The cuisines which Brits are most familiar with, and therefore most popular are Chinese, Italian and Indian. American, Mexican and Thai dishes follow closely with more ingredients being bought on a weekly basis. Authenticity is at the heart of cooking and 81% of respondents said they were replacing ‘faux food’ with authentic ingredients in their cooking from real French cheese, to Thai sauce to a variety of bread-based products such as bagels. 4. DELIVERY THROUGH YOUR LETTERBOXFor those days where leaving the sofa seems like it’s all too much of a chore, Deliveroo will now post your takeaway through your letterbox. In a revolutionary new design, delivery moguls Deliveroo have devised a game-changing takeaway box, allowing you to receive your pizza through your letterbox. Still at trial stages for a pilot group in Manchester, Mancunians can expect interaction-free food from July, without fear of scraping away their pizza toppings thanks to the latest in safe and secure design technology. What’s more, Asda is set to trail an express grocery delivery service with Just Eat to offer 30-minute deliveries from two store locations across 100 different product lines. Before year end, the grocery chain plans to roll out pizza delivery through Just Eat with 50 stores after a successful trial period. 5. CULINARY TRENDS OF 2019Every year, chefs introduce new cutting-edge methods and ingredients from their kitchens. One of the main culinary trends for 2019 is brain food. Neuronutrition is a hot topic as chefs are discovering foods like coconut oil, chocolate, mushrooms and spearmint are good for the brain. Collagen has been used in more than 3,000 new product launches this year and sustainable grains are expected to sprout such as kernza and fonio. Mentions of the term “bitter” on menus has increased 22% in the past four years and no sign of slowing down. FLAMES & FUN AT MEATOPIAMeatopia, the famous festival which celebrates meat, fire, music and drink is back. Unique dishes with ethically-sourced meats and ingredients grilled or smoked over sustainable wood and charcoal are prepared by some of the world’s top international chefs. From July 5-7th, Meatopia will be happening at Dublin’s Guinness Open Gate Brewery before heading to London’s Tobacco Dock from August 30th to September 1st. Some of the mouth-watering bites available are smoked bacon focaccia with pulled saddleback pork collar made by Beyond Brigade’s head chef Pete Denhart and smoked Welsh Mangalitza pork shoulder in a chapa flatbread and pickled radish created by The Mash Inn’s head chef Johnathan Parry. 7. TEX-MEX FLAVOURThe U.S. fast casual restaurant chain, Taco Cabana, recently launched two new Carnitas Street Tacos and a new Tex-Mex Sampler. The Yucatán taco includes carnitas with achiote sauce, pico de gallo, pickled red onions and cotija cheese while the Mexico City taco combines carnitas al pastor with pineapple, cilantro onion mixture and Guacamolito salsa. The Tex-Mex sampler is true to its name with small totchos, corn fritters and three jalapeño poppers. The new menu items bring together traditional Mexican culture with new, flavourful flavours. 8. THE FUTURE OF SNACKINGConsumer demand for convenience and ready-to-eat foods were identified in the latest Bord Bia’s Consumer Lifestyle Trends (Fuller Lives) offering a wealth of opportunity for snack manufacturers across the EU. FRENCH ORGANIC MARKETWith over 50% growth in the past five years, France is one of the largest markets for organic in Europe, totalling a 15.7% yoy growth in the past year alone. Moreover, organic farming is proving to be a key employment engine, with the total number of jobs in organics in France, both farming and processing (not including retail) totalling almost 140k at the end of 2018. 1 in every 8 jobs in the agri sector is now organic.
