Re-enrol NOW for 2014 to avoid $100 fine

Time is running out!

You need to re-enrol immediately if you plan to continue your studies in your course in 2014.

Who needs to re-enrol?
All students who are currently enrolled, or on leave of absence, and planning to continue their course in 2014, must re-enrol between the re-enrolment dates specified. You still need to re-enrol by the due date even if you want to take leave of absence from your studies in 2014.

You MUST re-enrol by Friday 13 December

If you haven’t re-enrolled by Friday 13 December 2013, you will incur a $100 late re-enrolment fee and your enrolment in your course may be cancelled.

Unsure of which subjects you plan to take?
You should enrol in subjects that you are likely to complete next year for the time being. You have until Week 2 each standard semester to change subjects, so you can select classes now and change them later if necessary. If you need information on subject selection, check out detailed sample course plans and the Handbook.

How do I re-enrol?
Re-enrol through my.unimelb.

New final studio option: 25pt Architecture Studio Fire in Semester 1 and 2

As a result of changes made to the Architecture major for 2013, the major capstone subject Architecture Design Studio: Fire has been changed to become a 25 point subject.

This subject will run in both Semester 1 and Semester 2 of 2014.

How to change your enrolment from Semester 2 to 1

If you are enrolled in Architecture Design Studio: Fire in Semester 2, 2014 and wish to change your enrolment to Semester 1, please:

  • Withdraw from ADS: Fire through my.unimelb
  • Reenrol in ADS: Fire through your Study Plan, selecting the Semester 1 availability

Want to replace ADS: Sparks (12.5 points) with ADS: Fire (25 points)?

If you are completing the Architecture major and would like to add Architecture Design Studio: Fire to your major in place of Architecture Design Studio: Sparks and one other subject, please email BEnvs Student Advice requesting this change.

Make sure you include your student ID number and specify which two subjects you would like to replace with ADS: Fire - for example, "ADS: Sparks and Formative Ideas in Architecture."

Japan Travelling Studio Exhibition

Japan Travelling Studio Exhibition
Date: Wednesday 4 December - Friday 13 December
Venue: Wunderlich Gallery, 757 Swanston

Closing celebration
Date:  Wednesday 11 December
Time: 6.00pm - 9.00pm
Venue: Wunderlich Gallery, 757 Swanston
RSVP: Register online

Australian city structures are strongly radical with small centres of tall buildings and radiating highway and railway 'spokes'. Japan's city structures are a counterpoint. Common in Japan are extensive grid structures consisting of wide cross-city roads (flanked by high buildings) framing superblocks of narrow streets (and low buildings).

This pattern comes from a 90 year-old planning approach that emphasizes infrastructure and relates building height to roadwidth. However, although the approach is old, the forms are little studied. This exhibition combines the work of three studios over three years that explored Nagoya's urban structure, built form and urban design principles - how these work, might be improved and even applied in Melbourne.

A special closing celebration will take place on Wednesday 11 December at 6pm. Speakers include Professor Rob Adams, Director, City Design, City of Melbourne, and Director of Melbourne School of Design, Alan Pert.
