Walk this way!Happy New Year! Our new walking challenge is the perfect way to motivate you to stay healthy and active over the coming winter months. Kick-start 2021 by joining our new challenge, Neural Pathways – pull on your walking shoes, step outside and walk either 6km, 16km or even 60km (in fact, choose whatever distance you would like!) for the 1 in 6 people affected by a neurological condition. Join #TeamBrainAppeal in just five steps: 1. Choose your distance – will you walk 6km, 16km or 60km? Or go even further?! It’s completely free to sign up and on registering, you will receive a National Brain Appeal fundraising pack and T-shirt to start you on your way. We're encouraging participants to raise at least £60 for us – and the money will go towards supporting key projects at The National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery. You can fundraise alone or as part of a team (but please make sure you adhere to the latest lockdown rules and walk either with people in your household or, if you live alone, one person outside your household). To stay safe, please keep up-to-date with the latest Government coronavirus guidelines.
Brains of BritainWith the rise of virtual quizzes bringing households together during lockdown, we are excited to announce the launch of Brains of Britain! We are calling on you to write and host a quiz, either online over Zoom during lockdown – or out in your local community once restrictions have been lifted. It's a really fun way to raise some laughs and some vital funds in aid of The National Brain Appeal. Our new quiz pack is now available on our website and contains all the tips you need to go about to set up your quiz. It will guide you through creating a fundraising page on either JustGiving or Virgin Money Giving, how to get your family and friends involved, and advice on how to host your Brains of Britain Quiz on Zoom or Skype. If you’re pushed for time or struggling to write your own quiz questions, you can even use The National Brain Appeal’s Virtual Quiz on You Tube, which has a ready-made brain-themed quiz for you. Good luck!
Generous giftWe've had an extremely kind new year offer from an anonymous donor. If you undertake a challenge or fundraising initiative in aid of our Rare Dementia Support Centre appeal, and raise at least £500 – our donor will match £500, to make a total of £1,000 or more! This offer is open to the first 10 people who choose to raise £500 for the world's first Centre for Rare Dementia, so do spread the word! If you're not quite sure what kind of event or challenge you fancy, we have loads of ideas on our website – just click below. All you need to do is email us to let us know you're interested in taking up the matched funding offer!
Run the Royal ParksThe Royal Parks Half Marathon in 2020 had to be postponed due to Covid-19, but we are delighted to announce that it will now take place on 11 April 2021 (fingers crossed!). This scenic central London half marathon takes in some of the capital’s world-famous landmarks on closed roads, and four of London’s eight Royal Parks – Hyde Park, The Green Park, St James’s Park and Kensington Gardens. To apply for a charity place, click on the link below. If you have a ballot place and would like to run in aid of The National Brain Appeal, please email us! If you're keen to complete a run sooner than April, check out our Virtual New Year Run. The goal is to rack up the marathon distance of 26.2 miles in January, finishing with one final run on 31 January, all while raising money in aid of The National Brain Appeal along the way. It's not too late to sign up! BRAIN FOOD For more personal stories and how your funding makes a huge difference to patients at Queen Square, please visit nationalbrainappeal.org. |
