No Images? Click here As the term draws quickly to a close there have been many interesting and exciting activities taking place and … there are many more still to come. Many thanks to the parents and community members who attended our Aboriginal Team Meet and Greet. It was great to see so many people in attendance. The Aboriginal Team was introduced to everyone, so now students, parents and community members have a face to go with the name. Our Robotics Team journeyed to Sydney to compete in the First Robotics Competition (FRC), the largest international competition in the world. I would like to congratulate the 19 students and staff for what were very busy but also very rewarding days and for the many hours they contributed throughout Term 1 to the building of the robot. The students as always made terrific efforts during all rounds. They are fantastic ambassadors for the school and their families, with convenors naming out students as the most polite and respectful of the competition. While participating in the FRC is an extra-curricular activity, robotics is also one of the units of work offered in our Year 9 STEM elective. This is an area for further expansion and development as this is now a part of the Mandatory Technology course. Last Thursday saw a great lunchtime had by all as the school banded together to take a stand against bullying. With the slogan Don’t Be Mean Behind the Screen as the focus of the events, students wrote positive messages on a banner which will be presented to the school for display. It is great to see so many great things happening to support anti-bullying at our school. Recently there have been trials for individual students in Hockey with Maddison Drewitt and Rhyan Hudson selected for the North Coast Team. They will now travel to Sydney to compete for state selection. Congratulations and best wishes. Congratulations to the SRC on running a very successful Shave for a Cure fund raiser this week. Over $2,000 was raised to support the Cancer Council. A big thank you to all the students who were brave enough to participate and well done to all who donated to the cause.
