CMS Clarifies Specifics of New Guidelines on Student Documentation in EHRsOn February 2, 2018, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) released a revised transmittal that allows the teaching physician to verify in the medical record any student documentation of components of E/M services, rather than redocumenting the work. In response to compliance questions from members, several organizations involved in the Preceptor Expansion Initiative asked CMS to clarify the meaning and intent of several aspects of the transmittal. Ten Members Chosen for the New Faculty Scholars ProgramTen family medicine faculty have been chosen for the New Faculty Scholarship Program. The yearlong program is designed to be a catalyst for developing future leaders in STFM and other areas of academic family medicine and provides leadership mentoring, scholarly activity opportunities, and a scholarship to the STFM Annual Spring Conference. Celebrate World Family Doctor Day on May 19World Family Doctor Day was first declared by WONCA in 2010 and it has become a day to highlight the role and contribution of family doctors in health care systems around the world. New Faculty Receive Training and Mentoring at the Family Medicine Advocacy SummitThe Society of Teachers of Family Medicine has awarded scholarships for five new faculty members to attend the Family Medicine Advocacy Summit. Scholarship recipients were chosen based on their potential to be exceptional advocates and advocacy leaders within STFM and the broader academic family medicine community.
