TERM 3 WEEK 5   AUGUST 15, 2018
OUR LADY OF GRACE NEWSLETTER

PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

So much is happening that the weeks seem to blur into one another. We have had:

·         RoboCup;

·         Maisie Brown (3B) and Jackson Rose (1G) receiving awards in the Angelico Art Exhibition;

·         Luca (6B) and Dion (4G) Calcei receiving an Award for "Outstanding" performance for their parts in the Rock Frogs Band at the Performing Arts Festival;

·         Angelina Curtis (5G) and Matilda Carey (6B) also receiving awards in the solo singing category of PAF, with Matilda being awarded for Merit and Angelina being awarded Excllence for vocal;

·         Our Junior and Senior choirs making us all proud through their beautiful singing at PAF;

.        Our drummers Zach Fanchi (4G), Owen Buck (5G), Connor Rowell (4B) and Antonio Trichilo (4B),  performed at PAF at Trinity College;

·         Olivia Todd (5G) received a participation award for Primary Instrumental Solo Woodwind section;

·         Lucas Bendotti (6G) playing hockey for the State School Boys Hockey in Newcastle.

It was also nice to see two of our previous students, James Haskis and Reid Campbell, feature prominently in Hale School’s latest high-gloss magazine. And of course, every issue of Sacred Heart’s newsletter features many past OLG students displaying their many merits.

Changing of the Guard

Change is both necessary and good. Last week you were informed that Mrs Gabrielle Doyle will take on the leadership of OLG from the start of next year.

Gabrielle is an OLG parishioner and lives locally. For some time she has been the Director of Teaching and Learning for the entire Catholic Education system of WA, having previously been a Catholic school principal.

The OLG school community is fortunate to have such a high calibre in-coming principal and I know she will be good for our children and our school.

God bless

Chris Kenworthy, Principal

Keeping up with the digital age - Social Media Connects

One thing that social media is good at is connecting us and building relationships. For schools, social media connects students, parents, teachers, and the school itself. It does this by sharing recent activities that the children and teachers have been participating in. Social media can also help spread school news or certain occasions, such as parent events or sports day. This is really helping children connect with their parents more too, creating conversations between them about work that has been posted by the school. We have had a social presence on facebook for over two years and have recently added Twitter and Instagram to reach all demographics.
