Lunch and Learn About Male CSA at Pitt 11/16

On November 19, International Men’s Day celebrates worldwide the positive value men bring to the world, their families, and their communities, highlighting positive role models and raising awareness of men’s well-being.

In recogntion of International Men's Day, you are invited to a lunchtime film screening of “Boys and Men Healing from Childhood Sexual Abuse” followed by a panel discussion to raise awareness of sexual abuse experienced by male-identified survivors hosted by Pittsburgh Action Against Rape and Prevention at Pitt.

Thursday, November 16, 2023
11AM-1 PM
University of Pittsburgh’s William Pitt Union (3959 Fifth Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15260)
Room 630

This 59-minute film from 2011 follows three male-identified individuals who were abused as children, and depicts their feelings of shame and self-blame, how they continue to heal, and the ways they are able assist other survivors of child sexual abuse as adults.

Following the film, staff and clinical interns from PAAR will lead a panel discussion about child sexual abuse and the ways it specifically affects male-identified survivors, the many myths surrounding male-identified survivors of child sexual abuse, and the services that PAAR offers to male-identified survivors.

Lunch will be provided and questions from the audience will be welcome!

Trigger Warning: Although no overt sexual abuse or violence is shown in the film, there are several graphic verbal descriptions of the sexual abuse of a child.

Space is limited to the first 40 individuals that register.  Please register on the PAAR website:
paar.salsalabs.org/LunchandLearnIntlMensDayatPitt/index.html

Free lunch will be provided.
