Study Shows Daily PrEP Adherence among Key Populations in Harlem

Results from the HPTN 067 study conducted at ICAP's Harlem Prevention Center reveal that transgender women and men who have sex with men (MSM) were able to adhere to daily dosing regimens of pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP).

"Members of the U.S. black MSM community are disproportionately impacted by HIV," said Dr. Sharon Mannheimer, site principal investigator at Harlem Prevention Center. "These results are especially important in demonstrating this population can adhere to PrEP when given access to it."

ICAP to Study HIV Treatment Retention among Pregnant Women in Swaziland

ICAP received funding from the NIH to conduct a two-year study to evaluate retention in care among HIV-infected pregnant women receiving lifelong antiretroviral treatment, known as Option B+.

"The findings will provide crucial new evidence to guide interventions to improve Option B+ performance, reduce HIV-related morbidities among women, and bring Swaziland closer to the elimination of mother-to-child transmssion of HIV," said Dr. William Reidy, prinicipal investigator of the study and strategic information specialist at ICAP.

Funding to Support HIV Care and Treatment in Angola

ICAP has been awarded funding from the CDC to support the Government of Angola in developing high-quality HIV care systems.

ICAP is partnering with Angola's National Institute in the Fight against AIDS to strengthen HIV testing, care and treatment in Luanda Province.
