A Blessing of Peace
Deep peace, pure gold of the sun to you.
Deep peace, pure white of the moon to you.
Deep peace, pure blue of the sky to you.
Deep peace, pure green of the grass to you.
Deep peace, pure brown of the earth to you.
Deep peace, pure light of the dew to you.
Deep peace of the running wave to you.
Deep peace of the whispering trees to you.
Deep peace of the flowing air to you.
Deep peace of the quiet earth to you.
Deep peace of the shining stars to you.
Deep peace of the Son of Peace to you.

Hello Parents and Friends of St. Anne’s
This weekend we have ten children who will be receiving Eucharist for the first time. All the best to Maya C, Max F, Tilda H, Maya M, Jesse N, Jessica H, Lucas L, Erin L, Chloe H and Tess O.
Enrolments
Please grab an enrolment form if you have a child beginning school next year. Once completed could they please be returned to the office? Thank you.
School uniform
All children are now expected to be wearing their winter school uniform.
Staffing
As of tomorrow, Julie Matheson will be taking long service leave for a fortnight. Best wishes are extended to Julie.
Australian Physical Activity Guidelines for Children and Young People
Federal Minister for Sport, Senator Bridget McKenzie, launched the new 24-Hour Movement Guidelines for 5–17 year olds in April 2019.
The Guidelines recommend:
-
accumulating 60 minutes or more of moderate to vigorous physical activity per day
-
limiting sedentary recreational screen time to no more than two hours per day
-
ensuring 9–11 hours of uninterrupted sleep per night for students aged between five and 13 years, and 8–10 hours per night for those aged between 14 and 17 years.
Are our students/families following these important guidelines?
Cross Country
Congratulations to our 40 participants who represented the school in the North Balwyn District Cross Country carnival last Friday. This event certainly tests the children physically and mentally.
Interschool Sport
This Friday we are playing St. Bridget’s in netball at school and soccer at Willsmere Park. The footballers will be playing a practice match amongst themselves at Willsmere Park. Games start at 9:30am.

Religious Education
Dear parents of Eucharist candidates and year 3 children,
As mentioned in previous newsletters, Friday the 24th May, your child will be attending a Eucharist Reflection Day at school.
On this day, all the Year 3 children can wear coloured clothes-but please ensure they are all labelled-as we take no responsibility for lost property.
Morning tea and fruit will be provided for the children, but you will need to provide lunch for them.
On this day, the children will be given seat allocations for their day.
There will be one pew provided per family, and it will be clearly marked with the family name on it.
We look forward to a day filled with lots of excitement, deep reflection and a growth of spiritual awareness.
With kind regards,
Clare Bellio
R.E.L.

St Anne’s are proud to be a Sporting School
St. Anne’s has been successful in securing funding for Term 2 of the Sporting School Program. We have partnered with the Australian Football League to deliver Australian Rules Football to all children.
Sporting Schools is a $200 million Government program designed to help schools increase children’s participation in physical activity and connect children with community sport.
More than 85% of schools around Australia receive Sporting Schools funding, which supports children to get active and have fun.
Engagement in sport and physical activity can help keep children healthy, happy and socially engaged, all of which can impact on their intellectual capacity and academic achievements.
The program provides children with positive sporting experiences to help develop a lifelong interest in sport and physical activity.
Sporting Schools is in partnership with more than 33 of the country’s leading sporting organisations who develop quality, nationally-endorsed resources and activities tailored for primary and secondary school students.
Support from parents and families is also known to have a positive impact on a child’s motivation and enjoyment of sport.

Earn and Learn
The Woolworths Earn and Learn promotion is with us again and St Anne’s is participating. Start, collecting your stickers for every $10 you spend at Woolworths supermarket and place them on the Sticker Sheets available at Woolworths stores and the school office. A collection box is being organised at Woolworths, Kew and at the school office. The more stickers we collect, the more educational resources we can be earnt for the school. The promotion continues until the 25th June 2019, so get down to Woolies for your groceries and don’t forget to collect your stickers whenever you and your family are doing your weekly shop . We appreciate your assistance.

Parents & Friends
Many thanks to Sarah Dare for organising the recent Mother’s Day Dinner at the Beehive Hotel. It was, as always, a great opportunity for a catch up and night out. Thanks Sarah!
The following morning, the Mothers’ Day stall was held in the multi-purpose hall. Thank you to Therese Taouk for her work in sourcing and preparing the gifts for sale and co-ordinating the volunteers who helped her with these tasks and on the day. Therese also got some of our Senior students in various aspects of the undertaking which, apart from being great fun for them, was a very useful learning exercise for them in the ways of commerce!
Lower Courts
This week, we have removed the remaining trees on the Lower Court area, in further preparation for its resurfacing. Our thanks again go to Tom and Emily Aldous and The Tree Company for their generosity in carrying out this work. Tom also provided great advice on the replacement trees we should plant. We are now refining our scope of works for the resurfacing so we can lock in final pricing.
