Snowdon Homes is a privately-owned housebuilding and development company based in Higham Ferrers that specialises in planning, designing and building residential development sites and affordable housing projects across the heart of England in conjunction with Housing Association partners. From 1st April 2021 new electrical safety regulations will apply to every privately rented property in England. So how does it affect you? It is a landlord’s responsibility to ensure their property meets required standards and is properly certified. This applies to gas safety, fire safety and electrical safety and minimum requirements must be met. If the property is not adequately documented, then there is the potential for penalisation and financial repercussions. As part of the government’s drive to improve standards across the private rented sector, new electrical safety regulations require all fixed electrical installations and electrical wiring to be signed off by a qualified electrician. This includes sockets, wiring, fuse box and any other fixed electrical parts. Latest news Keeping on top of industry standards is something we take seriously at RK. March marked the successful completion of our annual NICEIC approved contractor assessment. The assessment involves a comprehensive review of the business and electrical work including systems and documentation to ensure our standards remain compliant with all latest regulations (BS7671).
