Thank you to the many families who joined us during our Celebration of Learning on Friday, June 8. It was a sweltering day, but we enjoyed having parents in our classrooms spending time with their children. We greatly appreciate that you joined us as we celebrated another year of school and the graduation of Luise Kloever. It was a special day for all of us. Just a reminder, this is the last week of school. Each day is still a part of our 180 days of school that makes up our academic year. If a student is absent, that absence will be reflected on their school records. Please have your child wear the QSI Dushanbe T-shirts on Tuesday for Field
Day, Tuesday, June 12. We are going to start off the day with a whole school photo. If your child does not have a QSI Dushanbe T-shirt, please have them wear a white shirt. Thanks! Check out the T-shirt Summer Challenge further in the newsletter (thanks Evija Puke from PSG for the great idea!). We want your photos!!
Hello, my name is Adele Robertson and I am delighted to be joining the Faculty at QSI, Dushanbe! During the 2018-2019 school year I will be teaching Secondary Literature, Writing and Research and I’ve already heard wonderful things about my future students from Ms. Rubino. I hold a B.A. in both English and Spanish from Belmont University, an M.A. in Spanish Literature, Language and Culture from Cleveland State and have completed three years of doctoral work in the same area
at the University of Kentucky. I’ve spent the past sixteen years teaching Spanish grammar, culture and composition and am very excited to be given the opportunity to immerse myself in Literature again. In my spare time I love to garden, hike, camp and kayak and am looking forward to exploring Tajikistan on foot and by boat. I also enjoy ballet and modern dance and at one time performed with the Vanderbilt Dance Group--I’m interested in exploring the opportunities for both teaching and taking dance classes in Dushanbe. All in all, I can’t wait to get there, to meet everyone and to eat at the restaurants I’ve been hearing so much about! Did I mention
that I like to eat too? And cook! See you all in August!
On Thursday, May 31st, the 10 year olds and up, as well as a few parents, collected in the Library. As the house lights went off, and the stage lights came on, they were transported to an old, dusty warehouse. Eight unsuspecting bullies, and an innocent friend, were trapped for hours as a punishment for years spent bullying a student. After thrilling disappearances, and panic amongst the group, the innocent friend finally got to confront the student who had trapped them all there.

Several Eco-School members helped Mr. Thomas Bohlmann, a parent member of Eco-Committee, build the first of three compost bins for QSID. It is located by the wall separating World Languages and primary, in the garden bed. If you’re curious, come check it out! The compost bins, once full and decomposing, will provide great soil enrichment for our gardens here at school. This project falls under the eco-school theme of waste. Having compost bins allows us to reduce the waste we send out in addition to creating something new and useful that will help our campus. The kids had a great time working on the bins, and we still have two more to complete next year!
