Christmas Collection VolunteerCrisis at Christmas provides support to guests at a critical time of year and can make a real difference to people experiencing homelessness. They are looking for passionate volunteers to fundraise and support members throughout the festive period. Christmas Collection Volunteer - Saturday 12th December - Choose a time slot to suit you between 10am and 4pm . Ideally a minimum of 1 hour. Christmas Bucket Collection Volunteer - Sunday 13th December - Give an hour or two Commitment. Digital Support VolunteerAs a digital support volunteer, you will be a key part of our wellbeing offer throughout December, supporting our volunteers and staff as they run online events over Zoom. This includes monitoring the chat box, replying to messages and keeping a note of attendance of the event. Sighted Volunteer Be My Eyes is a free app that connects blind and low-vision people with sighted volunteers and company representatives for visual assistance through a live video call. As a sighted volunteer you can help just by installing the Be My Eyes app. A blind or a low-vision user may need help with anything from checking expiry dates, distinguishing colors, reading instructions or navigating new surroundings. Instant Wild - Conservation at your fingertips ZSL’s Instant Wild empowers you to take part in vital conservation work, bringing you LIVE images and videos from amazing locations all around the world. By identifying the animals in each image, you are contributing to conservation and making a positive impact on the future for wildlife. Available both as a smartphone app and online at instantwild.zsl.org, Instant Wild mobilises people power to scale up important animal monitoring work, which helps scientists to protect wildlife and secure a richer biodiversity for all! You don’t need any special expertise to take part – help is provided in our handy Field Guides – simply sign up and start tagging the animals in the images. Mapping VolunteerPutting the World's Vulnerable People on the Map. Each year, disasters around the world kill nearly 100,000 and affect or displace 200 million people. Many of the places where these disasters occur are literally 'missing' from any map and first responders lack the information to make valuable decisions regarding relief efforts. Missing Maps is an open, collaborative project in which you can help to map areas where humanitarian organisations are trying to meet the needs of vulnerable people. VolunteerCatchafire is about giving time and talent, virtually. There are varied opportunities you can participate in that will develop different skills, for example accounting, marketing, digital marketing, management, web design, social media and much more. Available whenever you can volunteer, with opportunities varying in time commitment. Taking Action For Insects41% of insect species face extinction. Insects are dying out up to 8 times faster than larger animals says a new report showing the devastating and serious decline in insect populations happening right now across Britain. Let’s help build a Wilder Future for Britain where insects and wildlife can thrive. If we work together, we can all: Next Generation Leaders Programme, Talloires NetworkNext Generation Leaders (NGL) is a two year initiative, providing a forum for students around the world to reflect on their engagement experiences, learn from each other and present recommendations for future action to a global audience. The cohort will have a total of 40 students who will share their experiences with community-based research, service-learning, political activism and social entrepreneurship with one another. Discussions will have key focus and themes such as: Pandemic Recovery and Resilience, Innovations in Gender Equity, Structured Listening Methods and Civic Engagement Futures. The application process is currently open for undergraduate and graduate students involved in community/social action and the final date for application submissions is 22nd January 2021.
