IT'S HOW WE ROLL...

June 18 in sport...

1995 All Black Jonah Lomu scores the try of the Rugby World Cup, running over Mike Catt in New Zealand's 45-29 defeat of England.

Head selectors appointed

Following a great response of high calibre applicants, we are delighted to advise the following Head Selector appointments for the 2021-2022 season.

Open Men’s -Tom King
Open Women’s - Diane Harris
1-5 Men’s & Women’s - Peter Blucher

The Selection Panel was suitably impressed with the level of skills and experience of all applicants which made reaching their final decisions difficult. The Panel is confident their selections will deliver the results set for the Auckland region.

Congratulations to the newly appointed Head Selectors, we look forward to the success of all our teams this season.

The definition of...
backswing

It is the same in all sports: tennis, golf, hockey, baseball, cricket, even
football.

The whole secret is in the graceful backswing and the perfect
follow-through.

If only, you could put it in the right direction!

NEWS FROM THE GREEN...

Great Western Showdown

The call from Glen Eden Bowling Club went out for entries to the Great Western Showdown and it didn't take long for the 4th annual fill up with 1-3 year players.
The greyish day with a little bit of mist didn't stop the 18 teams of cowboys and cowgirls heading west on Sunday.

Check out Glen Eden's Facebook page for all the details...

Breaking records

Did everyone see the mammoth bowling effort completed at New Lynn last Sunday?

Congratulations and well done Colin Haysham and Nicky Third who bowled a record 28 hours 23 mins.  They wanted to raise awareness and fundraise for rangitahi suffering from mental illness, in support of Youthline.

New Lynn's Facebook page has a great video showing their effort...

Bowls3Five Finals

Well done to Auckland Originals 1 and Royal Oak Rockets for making it to the Bowls3Five finals last weekend.

Both teams did their best in Naenae, but alas it wasn't enough to get them to the winning podium - better luck next time.

We now wait until October when
Pt Chevalier
Pirates compete at the fourth edition of Bowls3Five.

A big congrats to the Bowls3Five Interclub winners for 2021, Hastings Hornets.
