Commemorating Vasil Levski, Bulgaria's National HeroOn February 19 each year Bulgaria commemorates the national hero Vasil Levski. Levski was a Bulgarian revolutionary also known as the Apostle of Freedom. His legacy went beyond freedom and the act of liberation, but he also envisioned Bulgaria as a republic of ethnic and religious equality, and his concepts were described by many as a struggle for human rights. Levski is commemorated with monuments around the country, and many institutions, public schools, streets, sports clubs etc. bear his name. At AEA, Grades 3 and 4 supported by their teachers Ms. Denitsa Nikolova and Ms. Emiliya Mircheva marked the commemoration of Levski by talking about his life and ideas, and creating posters which are on display at the classrooms.
