Spring Break Camps are Cancelled

Unfortunately, due to lack of enrollment, we have decided to cancel our Spring Break camps. Parents who already signed up for the camps will be fully reimbursed within two weeks.

Follow Us on Social Media

Don't forget to follow us on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. It is one of the easiest ways to see what is happening in the classrooms each day. You can also read in-depth curriculum stories on our NWS Now blog.

Senior Yearbook Pages Due by March 29

Please encourage your seniors to create and submit their senior page for the yearbook! Here are the guidelines:

  • Size: 8.5" wide, 5.5" high
  • First and last name must be included
  • File Type: High-resolution (300 dpi) image file (such as a .jpg)

The hard due date for the pages is March 29. Any pages received afterwards cannot be placed in the yearbook. Final pages should be emailed to Nathalie Hall.

Time to Plan for Ashland!

We are excited to offer Upper School students the chance to attend the Oregon Shakespeare Festival in Ashland, Oregon. The trip runs the weekend right after the last day of school, leaving after 8th Grade Graduation on Friday, June 14, and returning in the evening on Monday, June 17. For more information, please contact Jeff Blair, Laura Ferri, Sarah Porter, or Justin Peters. Permission slips will be available online in Trimester 3.

Videos from Spring Dance Showcase

Did you miss our sold-out Spring Dance Showcase? Don't worry, we have you covered. You can stream the entire performance here (case sensitive password is RxHvq4zH).

We are also proud to present a special video performance from Chloe C. '20, who was unable to perform with the Performing Dance Ensemble due to injury. She recorded a film with this statement:

"Throughout the film there is never a shot of full body, head to toe. This piece was inspired by an injury that prevented me from walking for many months. Helping me discover that we are all capable of dancing. We are not limited to the spaces we create for ourselves. A special thank you to all of those in collaboration with this film!"

Pizazz Invitations Are on the Way!

Be on the lookout for your Pizazz invitation (mailed earlier this week)! New this year: all registration will take place online and is open now for those of you who can’t wait.

What is Pizazz? It’s our lively spring fundraiser that raises awareness and support for financial aid. The evening includes a raise the paddle, dessert dash, and even a signature cocktail. Each table is decorated uniquely, based on a book. No table? No problem! We try our best to place individuals with grade-level families.

Serving as a table captain is fun and easy. Simply agree to host a table for ten, choose a book title, and invite others to join you. The event planning committee can offer its creativity for décor if help is needed. Interested? Contact Julie Lombardo for more information and inspiration!

Parent Education Evening: The Self-Driven Child with Dr. Bill Stixrud, April 29

On April 29, 6:30-8:30 pm, at University Prep, we are excited to partner with University Prep to present an evening with Dr. Bill Stixrud, a clinical neuropsychologist, founder of The Stixrud Group, and author of The Self-Driven Child. Dr. Stixrud is a member of the faculty at Children's National Medical Center and is an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry and Pediatrics at the George Washington School of Medicine.

Please RSVP for the event here. Childcare will be offered.

College Admissions Case Studies Workshop for Junior Families

  • Tuesday, April 23, 6:00 pm, at The Bush School
  • Wednesday, April 24, 6:00 pm, at University Prep

The Northwest School, Seattle Academy, Bush School, University Prep, and Rainier Scholars have teamed up to offer a College Admissions Case Studies Workshop to 11th grade students and families. Experience what it is like to sit in an admission counselor’s chair!  At this workshop, attendees will evaluate and discuss college applications and make the final admission decisions.

Admissions officers will facilitate committee discussions and will provide their own insights into this complex process. After the case studies, participants will attend a mini college fair to network with the admissions staff.  Over 50 colleges will be represented.

Both workshops are the same, so families can choose whichever date and location is most convenient for them. More information about the program will be emailed directly to junior families in April, but please mark your calendars now.

Upper School Fall Sports Begin Aug. 26

Upper School fall sports begin on August 26. Please mark your calendar if your Upper School student(s) will be participating in cross country, girls' soccer, boys' ultimate, or girls' volleyball.

Also, 11th and 12th grade student athletes should plan SAT/ACT testing and college visits around their athletic commitments. Please contact Britt Atack with any questions.
