MEMBER SURVEY RESULTS NOW AVAILABLE Dear AMSRO members, I hope this latest update finds you well and making your way through this difficult period. Firstly, thank you to those members who responded to AMSRO's recent member COVID-19 survey. The topline results below reflect the challenges we currently face, however, at the same time that employers need to deal with complex business decisions, the reality is that it can be easy to lose sight of the bigger picture. The fact is that restrictions will lift, the pandemic will pass, and the economy will rebuild. To succeed during and after this recovery phase, AMSRO is here to continue to guide and support members with several new training programs and resources. If you haven't taken advantage of what's on offer, please see information via the button below. The Executive (and Committee members) are also exploring ways in which to alleviate members’ limited access to resources over the coming months while sustaining the Association and ensuring AMSRO continues to deliver critical services. We will be returning to you, our valued members, for further feedback over the next couple of weeks. During this time, it is also important the industry continues to recognise and celebrate the importance of research. As such, AMSRO is delighted to partner with ESOMAR on International Market Research Day to promote the value of insights and the wealth of talent across the sector. Talent which AMSRO and ESOMAR are celebrating with the Research Got Talent Award Competition. Members can read all about our Australian finalists in the Research Got Talent Award Competition here. As we head into the final round of the competition this week, it's reassuring to know that our industry's future is bright and in very competent hands. Should you or your team require further information or support, please don't hesitate to contact AMSRO or join us on the AMSRO Leaders Zoom hang-out on Thursday 7 May at 4.30 pm. An invitation to all Leaders coming soon via AMSRO's Leaders LinkedIn. COVID-19 MEMBER SURVEY TOPLINE RESULTS Changes to business due to COVID-19 Most research businesses had already made significant changes to the way they are running their businesses at the time of the survey. The next wave of the survey will look specifically at the JobKeeper initiative also (as this was introduced during the survey Wave 1 period). AMSRO members continue to have access to legal advice (via the AMSRO free legal hotline) when implementing changes to business strategies. Changes to Existing Projects Most businesses have experienced project deferrals and cancellations, but it is positive to see that just over half have had new COVID-related projects specifically commissioned also. AMSRO will continue to advocate on behalf of our members, with a follow-up Government communication planned over the coming weeks. Changes to revenue The majority of members expect to see revenue decline in both this and next financial year. AMSRO’s Revenue Statistics survey should provide some indication of the scale of the actual impact after the current quarter data is submitted in July. Effect of COVID-19 on mental health The expected impact on the mental health of members and their teams is a significant issue and one that AMSRO will continue to focus on through the provision of support. Watching out for those struggling and finding ways of managing this situation will be necessary. A recording of AMSRO and CIE Legal's recent Mental Health First Aid Tool Kit webinar is available should you require.
