Katavi National Park in western Tanzania is remote and wild & sees very few visitors so guests exploring here will have a huge, untouched wilderness to themselves. Katavi features watery grass plains to the north, the palm-fringed Lake Chada, and the beautiful Katuma River.  It is home to a wonderful variety of wildlife including the rare, honey-coloured Puku antelope which is one of the park's game viewing highlights.  Ruaha National Park is to the east of Katavi & game viewing begins the moment the plane touches the airstrip, although much of the game is concentrated along the great Ruaha River, the shores of which are a permanent hunting ground for lion, leopard, jackal, hyena & the African Wild Dog.  The Selous Game Reserve is the largest protected wilderness reserve on the continent and one of the most photogenic & wildlife rich reserves.

Lion & leopard find prey among the huge populations of herbivores at Katavi while at Ruaha elephants remain the largest population in East Africa.
