This is an important contribution to the ongoing work of Child Safety in our Catholic schools. I know our Year 5 teachers Mrs Henery, Ms Trinder and Mr Brown join with me in being proud of our Year 5 students who were invited to participate in this process. Even more exciting was the filming of the training and interviews to be used as a part of a wider training package for other Catholic education schools in WA. Our Year 5 students were articulate, thoughtful and enthusiastic about the opportunity to help other children and schools. I made a commitment earlier this year to working with teachers and parents to develop an IT Strategy for the further integration of technology into our teaching and learning program. The IT Team, consisting of parents and staff, have been developing this strategy and will present this to the parent community on Wednesday 7th August 6.30- 8.00 pm. Here the IT Team will outline the purpose, process and parameters around the implementation. The IT Strategy involves students, staff and parents and two further dates have been set aside for evening workshops to assist our parent community with the issues and safety aspects of IT in the home. Further information will be sent early in Term 3, please save the dates for 7th August and either 12th August or 17th August for our guest speaker on IT. Congratulations to all students from Pre Primary to Year 6 on their work in Semester 1. I have read every child’s report and have been impressed by the improvement and efforts students are applying not only to their studies but to their individual growth and relationships. School reports will be sent out electronically 4pm this Friday. All schools in WA are required to report to parents twice a year on a student’s progress against the West Australian Curriculum. This year for Year 1 – 6 we have changed the reports to include comments in the Religious Education, English, Mathematics Learning Areas and a General Comment. Pre-Primary have a report that indicates progress against the Early Years Outcomes and a general comment. Please contact your child’s teacher if you wish to discuss the reports. Your child’s teacher may also contact you for a meeting to discuss the reports. I have been impressed by the attention to detail in these reports and congratulate the teaching staff for their efforts in this new process. We will survey parents later in the year for feedback on the assessment and reporting processes this year. Congratulations to our Cross Country Team who are busy training for the Cross Country Carnival next terms. We are looking for some parent helpers to assist training at lunch time on Wednesday & Thursday of the first week of term. We had a fabulous introduction to Rhyme Time followed by It’s All About Play in our new venue the Pre K room. There was lots of rhyme and movement followed by lots of play with mums and Grans enjoying reading, the home corner, play dough and the outside play area. The sandpit was a hit as were the blocks and shaker making. We look forward to our next session on Friday 5th July. Hope to see you you there. Please find attached the Canteen Menu Alternatively you can place your child's order in the class canteen bucket. If your child's order does not go through and they have no lunch, we will supply them with a sandwich. We will no longer have additional items available due to food wastage costs.
