Have your say - Our Cairns Youth Survey!

Cairns Regional Council is inviting young people aged 14 to 24 years old to participate in the 2024 Our Cairns Youth Survey. Conducted every 4 years, the survey focuses on a wide range of topics including activities and facilities, public transport, safety, environment, community and more!

We encourage you to share the youth survey with your school and community group. Please click here to find convenient Our Cairns Youth Survey assets that you can use in your newsletters and display around your school campus.

Have your say and complete the survey before Friday 20 September, 6:00pm.

Funding for major and destination events

Did you know that Tourism and Events Queensland (TEQ) provides funding for Destination and Major events?

TEQ works collaboratively to identify, attract, develop and promote a distinctive events calendar that generates economic and social benefits across Queensland and highlight the state’s unique destinations and showcase why Queensland is home to world class events.

Grants and Sponsorships

There are many grant opportunities available to your club. The Cairns Regional Council Go Clubs website provides information you may need to prepare for and submit a successful grant application.

Go Clubs Infrastructure Assistance Grant

The Go Clubs Infrastructure Assistance Grant is available to local sport, recreation, arts, culture and community organisations. The grant aims to support renewed or upgraded community infrastructure or the development of improved facilities.

Applications close 31 August 2024.

Good for Good Community Grant

The Queensland Country Good for Good Community Grant is now open.

Eligible not-for-profit organisations are invited to apply for funding of between $5,000 and $30,000 to deliver projects that make a practical difference to the lives of Queensland communities.

Applications close Monday 2 September.

Community Partnerships Grant

The Community Partnerships Grant assists community groups and organisations to deliver events, activities and programs that enhance the lives of local communities, celebrate important community occasions, and provide opportunities to develop social cohesion and connection in the Cairns region.

This grant provides assistance through cash and the hiring of Council venues and resources. The maximum amount per application is $25,000 (ex GST).

Sport and Recreation Recovery Grant

Designed to help eligible sport or recreation clubs and Queensland governments that have been affected by severe weather assisting them to rebuild, restore, and mitigate their facilities.

To be eligible for funding, organisations must be located in a declared disaster area for Tropical Cyclone Jasper or South Queensland Severe Storms and Rainfall.

Applications close 31 January 2025.

Game Plan is a free online platform that allows clubs and sports groups of all sizes to get insights into their current capability in key areas of club administration, then supports ongoing club development with a suite of tools.

FREE stalls for not-for-profits (NFPs) at Tanks Markets!

Council is proud to support local not-for-profits by offering FREE stalls at the regular Tanks Markets and Carnival on Collins in 2024. From fundraising and merchandise sales to membership and registration drives, a Tanks Market stall can boost your organization's visibility and impact!

  • Sunday 1 September, 9:30am – 11:30am: Meet at Centenary Lakes Nature Play Space, Greenslopes St
  • Saturday 7 September, 9:30am – 11:30am: Meet at Giangurra Esplanade Park, Pine Creek, Yarrabah Rd
  • Sunday 15 September, 9:30am – 11:30am: Meet at Bana Gindarja Creek, Sinclair Miller Bridge, Ravizza Dr
  • Friday 20 September, 9:30am – 11:30am: Meet at Cairns Central Taxi Rank, McLeod St
