The Clinical Immunogenomics Research Consortium of Australasia (CIRCA) invites you to attend their 3rd Annual Symposium. The symposium will be held over three half days, featuring international experts in the field and a pre-symposium educational event provides an introduction to immunogenomics. A clinical trial across 12 countries will test a potential COVID-19 treatment, using antibodies purified from plasma taken from people who have recovered from the disease.

App analyses coronavirus genome on a smartphone
A team led by Dr Ira Deveson (Garvan Institute of Medical Research) developed the ‘Genopo’ app which can analyse the coronavirus genome on an Android device. The app uses nanopore sequencing technology to make it possible to analyse the genome of the SARS-CoV-2 virus on a smartphone in less than half an hour.

AIATSIS recently published the Code of Ethics for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Research (The AIATSIS Code), which ensures that research with and about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples follows a process of meaningful engagement and reciprocity between the researcher and the individuals and/or communities involved in the research.

MedTech Workshop Recording
The Triple I and Cancer Clinical Academic Groups co-led an online Medical Technology Workshop in August 2020. Convened by A/Prof Phoebe Phillips (UNSW) and facilitated by Prof Joanne Tipper (UTS), this workshop brought together experts from government, industry, health and education sectors to discuss the development, clinical validation and funding models needed to bring medical technologies to the clinic and to improve health across the community.

Australian Academy of Science - Regional Collaborations Programme COVID-19 Digital Grants
Grants of up to $10K are available for E/MC researchers to increase connectivity and engagement between Australian and Asia–Pacific economies in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
