TIMG  is looking forward to working with its valued clients in developing new and exciting e-business solutions to help better manage their information needs.  As a business, it’s important to look forward, plan for the future and adapt to the changing environment.  The past is still very relevant. That’s why we keep archives and help our clients to manage theirs.  From past information and experiences we can build a solid foundation.  Historically, TIMG’s strength lies with our people and their focus on providing innovative solutions and exceptional service for our clients. Moving forward, we will continue to work with our clients, customising products and offering a full service for all their information management needs.

TIMG is fully supported in its positioning by our parent company, Freightways Ltd, a leading New Zealand provider of express package services. The company has a rich history dating back to 1964 through New Zealand Couriers; a pioneer of the early package service industry in New Zealand. Over five decades, Freightways has grown organically through acquisition and now services every major town and city throughout New Zealand.

Last month, Freightways announced an aircraft fleet upgrade of its airfreight service to meet the growing demands for its expanding express package business.

Fieldar Holdings (FAH) will form a Joint Venture (JV ) company with Airwork Holdings (AWK) that will operate three Boeing 737-400 freighter aircrafts, replacing five Convair freighter aircraft operations. AWK will lease three 737-400 freighter aircrafts to the JV company.

With the new aircraft services, Freightways will increase its carrying capacity, service delivery times and save annual capital and operating costs, plus reduce carbon emissions per item of freight carried. Most importantly, it will be able to provide a more efficient service for its current and future customers in business and consumer markets.

The fleet expansion is another example of our parent company adapting to changing market conditions, particularly with the growth of e-commerce bringing an increased demand for freight services.

At TIMG, we too are always planning for the future, today.

With the market buzzing about the benefits of storing information in the Cloud, you would be forgiven for thinking that physical data storage is soon to be obsolete. Storing information in the Cloud does not guarantee complete security.  As we have seen, even multinational companies have fallen victim to cyber-attacks or unintentionally lose data.  With a growing push by governments to make companies liable for securing privacy data, it’s no wonder, IT Departments are favouring safer data management systems. Data tapes provide that safe alternative, especially if properly stored.  Like archives, data tapes need to be stored securely; offsite is the best option to protect your company against liability.  Equally important is easy access and retrieval, particularly when disaster strikes. Loss of data and downtime is extremely costly.

TIMG has secure off-site storage in specially designed vaults, together with an easy to use software tracking system. TIMG employs a dedicated team of professional drivers, available 24/7 to pick up and deliver tapes as needed. We can even provide you with a range of data tape options.

Did you know that in 2011, Google had to use back up tape to restore the email boxes of 40,000 users? And closer to home, during the Queensland floods in 2011, many of TIMG’s clients relied on backup tapes to restore their information after their servers were destroyed.

If you’re still not convinced, here are five reasons to use data tapes:

  1. Portability:  Tape is still the only medium to reliably store data and secure it offsite for privacy and disaster recovery.
  2. Better longevity:  The physics of tape technology enable companies to extend its storage capacities.
  3. Scalability:  Tapes give businesses the ability to scale their storage capacity to meet future growth.
  4. Reduced energy costs: Studies repeatedly show that tape drives use less power and generate less heat than disk drives, resulting in energy costs that are 1/15th that of disk.
  5. Fast performance:  Data can now be retrieved in a matter of seconds or just a few minutes with the ability to move data at speeds of over 1TB/hr. per tape drive.

Victorian State Manager, Mike Reynolds is responsible for one of TIMG’s fastest growing sectors with the Melbourne facility consolidating for expansion both physically and in emerging markets.

With a team of experienced professionals spanning Victoria and Tasmania in a variety of industries including e-business, records and media management, and specifically government, TIMG Victoria has a strong focus on customising solutions for our clients.

According to Mike Reynolds, Victoria and Tasmania have done extremely well last financial year meeting budgets and servicing over 1,000 clients.

We’ve been steadily outgrowing our existing facilities. Recently, we moved into a specifically fitted warehouse at Laverton to house archive records and scanning facilities. This is a state-of-the-art facility with new racking and high tech security surveillance systems with cameras positioned on every aisle. Plus an additional office floor to accommodate our very talented people.

“Our Media Management and Escrow services at Abbotsford are also growing together with continued demand for secure off-site storage,” said Mike.

The demand for digital services is growing rapidly.  In September 2014, TIMG acquired Integrated Imaging Systems. The company, managed by Sam Giudice, has been established for over 25 years, and offers automated data extraction services including scanning and image capturing services.

This is a great opportunity for both our companies with new services available for all clients.

“Together the TIMG Victorian and Tasmanian teams are focused on continuing to deliver a full flexible service to suit the changing needs of our clients and the digital age”, said Mike.

TIMG Sponsors RIMPA

TIMG is proud to sponsor a number of industry events for the Records and Information Management Professionals (RIMPA) across the country.

As part of the sponsorship for RIMPA in WA, TIMG WA State Manager, Ivan Dennis presented at their General Meeting on 15th July and received very positive feedback on the presentation and TIMG overall.

“The RIMPA members were very interested in the story behind TIMG’s new branding.  The logo colours and character bytes were a great hit. I also showed a short corporate video which gave an overview of our operations and our commitment to exceptional service. The video helped people to understand what we do and how we add value,” said Ivan.

TIMG WA has recently been included in the Common Use Agreement for all WA government departments.

“This offers an excellent opportunity for TIMG WA to provide services for records management professionals in government,” said Ivan.

In Melbourne, RIMPA will be hosting the RIM Professionals Australasia convention, rebranded as inForum. Topics on the agenda include data, the Cloud, digital repositories, disposal, destruction, automation, content management, as well as professional development in change management and other staff management issues. The event is likely to attract up to 500 delegates from across Australasia. TIMG Victoria is a silver sponsor for the event and very excited to be involved.

inForum will take place on 30 August to 2 September 2015, at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.  Look out for TIMG’s stand no. 2.
