It's Remember A Charity Week No images? Click here I'm leaving a gift for the futureIt's likely that many of you have recently been reflecting on the things that matter the most – family, friends and the causes close to your heart. We have been reminded of the value of planning for the future in order to look after the things you care about most. My name is Penny and back in the early 2000s I noticed that the fingers in my left hand had started to drop and that I had no energy. In 2004, I was referred to The National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery and was diagnosed with Multifocal Motor Neuropathy (MMN). It's a rare condition in which focal areas of multiple motor nerves are attacked by your own immune system. I now regularly attend The National Hospital for IVIG infusions. In 2006, a Day Care clinic was established at the hospital with a team of specialist nurses. While we sit and have our treatments in a room with other patients, we talk to each other. MMN is rare and the landscape can be very lonely. It is still a relatively unknown condition, so to be able to share experiences was such a huge step forward for me. My own personal journey with MMN makes me want to give back in whatever way I can to the fantastic team of consultants and nurses who go above the call of a duty on a daily basis and who provide us all with such a comforting support system. That is why I have left a gift in my Will to The National Brain Appeal. I want to help in any way I can to fund crucial research into all neurological conditions going forward. This week is Remember A Charity Week – the perfect opportunity to consider leaving a gift in your Will. Planning ahead ensures that your wishes regarding your estate are carried out after your death and provides peace of mind for you and your loved ones. The National Brain Appeal understands that family will always take priority and are extremely grateful for every legacy left to them. Whether large or small, a gift in your Will can make a real difference to the work that can be funded. The National Brain Appeal have partnered with Bequeathed and The Goodwill Partnership to make Will writing simple and straightforward. In the video below you will see more about the impact of legacies on projects at The National Hospital. If like me, you want to provide hope for the future for those affected by a neurological condition, please consider leaving a legacy to The National Brain Appeal. Thank you.
