Exploring how to commercialise medical technology At our recent Medical Technology Workshop, experts shared their perspectives on the challenges of bringing ideas to commercial and clinical fruition - exploring all aspects of medical technology development and commercialisation. The workshop was convened by A/Prof Phoebe Phillips (UNSW) and facilitated by Prof Joanne Tipper (UTS), with sponsorship from UNSW Medicine, the Triple I CAG and the Cancer CAG. CONCERT paper of the month Clinical trials knowledge and attitudes of Vietnamese and Anglo‐Australian cancer patients: A cross‐sectional study. GRANTSInLuCC Lung Cancer Research Grant Opportunity The Ingham Institute InLuCC lung cancer research grant will award funding of $20K to improve Lung Cancer patient outcomes in one or more of the following areas: Cellular research; treatment and/or care coordination; mental health. The grant is open to all Ingham Institute staff or affiliated researchers (CONCERT/SPHERE). Deadline: 19 October 2020 Frontiers Technology CAG: 2020 Seed Funding Scheme The Frontiers Technology Clinical Academic Group 2020 Seed Funding Scheme aims to fund projects developed by CAG members in response to an identified unmet clinical need. Funding of up to $10K is available for projects of up to 6 months in duration that align with the FT CAG objectives. Deadline: 2 November 2020 Australian Laureate Fellowships 2021 Up to 17 five-year Australian Laureate Fellowships will be awarded, providing a salary supplement, in addition to a Level E professorial salary provided by the Administering Organisation; funding for up to two Postdoctoral Research Associates and two Postgraduate Researchers; and up to $300K p.a. project funding. Deadline: 4 November 2020 ARC Future Fellowships Future Fellowships provide four-year fellowships to outstanding Australian mid-career researchers. Up to 100 four-year Future Fellowships may be awarded each year, providing a salary awarded at one of three salary levels and up to $60K p.a. project funding. Deadline: 9 December 2020 AWARDS, TRAINING AND RESOURCESThe Enduring Cancer Data Linkage (CanDLe) Initiative Cancer Institute NSW's CanDLe initiative aims to increase population-wide cancer research aligned with the NSW Cancer Plan and provide access to linked cancer data for participating researchers. The initiative has EOIs open for experienced lead researchers. Pancreatic cancer road map consultation The Cancer Australia National Pancreatic Cancer Roadmap is open for public consultation. The roadmap will identify priority areas for action over the next five years to improve outcomes for people with pancreatic cancer and consider all aspects of the cancer pathway. Current survivorship focused research in Australia survey The COSA Survivorship Group invites responses to their survey aimed at mapping cancer survivorship focused research within Australia. Responses will inform the creation of an online directory of survivorship research activities, foster collaborations and identify research gaps. When: 4 February 2021 ABOUT USTCRN The Translational Cancer Research Network (TCRN) is a translational cancer research centre program funded by the Cancer Institute NSW and is a collaborative and interactive cancer research community based in the South East of Sydney, with links to cancer services and researchers in inner and southern Sydney, and Albury. It was formed to create an innovative and supportive environment for the translation of cancer research into improvements in patient care. CONCERT The Centre for Oncology Education, Research and Training (CONCERT) is a translational research centre program funded by the Cancer Insitute NSW. CONCERT exists to bring together the knowledge and expertise of cancer health professionals and researchers to facilitate translation of research generated evidence into practice to achieve better outcomes for those affected by cancer. Cancer CAG The Cancer Clinical Academic Group (Cancer CAG) brings together clinicians and researchers from three universities, four cancer services (with six major treatment facilities) and three Medical Research Institutes. Our combined research strength spans the translational medicine spectrum of bench to bedside and health service delivery.
