Announcing the appointment of two new Directors

Kia ora koutou,

I’m delighted to announce the appointment of two new Directors, effective 14 January 2019.

Vivienne Merito, of Ngāti Pūkeko and Ngāti Awa descent, has been appointed as our Director of Marketing and Student Attraction, responsible for leading the development and implementation of our domestic and international marketing strategies.  She will report to David Glover.

Vivienne returns to Unitec from Te Wānanga o Aotearoa where she spearheaded the organisation’s rebrand as the lead of Brand and Recruitment Services. She brings considerable cross-sector marketing experience of nearly 20 years and has an in-depth understanding of the tertiary landscape, having worked in both large and small institutions across Aotearoa. Previously, Vivienne was the Marketing and Communications Manager, Priority Groups, and brings a blend of cultural depth and commercial savvy to her new role.

Tracy Chapman, of Ngāti Maru descent, has been appointed as Director, International Success, responsible for supporting international students with a large focus on pastoral care.  Reporting to Glenn McKay, she will work closely with the International teams within Marketing and Student Success in her new role.

Tracy has been Operations Manager, Enrolment Setup and Graduation, for the past two years.  Prior to that, she was a student advisor team leader for Language Studies. Tracy was a Finalist in the Excellence in Support category of the recent Staff Awards.

Prior to joining Unitec, she worked in an International language school for five years.

With Tracy’s new appointment, leadership continuity is key.

While a transition plan will be worked through, the Enrolment Setup team will move to report to Aroha Lewin, Principal Continuous Improvement Lead.

Trude Cameron, Operations Manager, Timetabling & Student Finance, is also taking up a new position in TKK and we will not be replacing her role.

Graduation and Student Finance will report to Dan Brady directly until a recruitment process can be undertaken in the New Year for a new Operations Manager in this area.

Timetabling, with the addition of a team leader role, will now report to Hung Ngo, Principal Scheduler.

Please join with me in congratulating Vivienne and Tracy on their new roles.

Ngā mihi

Merran Davis
