The Emerging Leaders Fellowship is accepting applications for a new chair. The term begins in August 2020 with the recruitment of the 2021-22 class. The selected chair is asked to shadow the current chair and participate in all 2020-21 Emerging Leaders Fellowship activities.

Meet Our New Faculty for Tomorrow Scholars

The STFM Foundation supports multiple scholarships of $750 to help cover travel expenses for residents to attend the full-day Faculty for Tomorrow Preconference Workshop at the Annual Spring Conference. Scholarship recipients are chosen based on essays that include responses to the questions "Why are you interested in teaching family medicine?" and "How do you think you can make a difference in the future of family medicine?"

STFM Awards New Behavioral Science/Family Systems Educator Fellowships

Because of generous member donations, 25 STFM members were recently recognized as Behavioral Science/Family Systems Educator fellows. This competitive, yearlong fellowship is for family medicine faculty who have responsibility for coordinating or teaching the behavioral science/family systems curriculum. Preference is given to applicants with 1 to 5 years of experience as a faculty member.

Family Medicine Faculty Recognized as New Emerging Leaders Fellows

Eight family medicine faculty members recently received this yearlong fellowship that offers training, tools, and support for new faculty and those who are transitioning to leadership roles. Participation in all fellowship activities, including in-person workshops, is required for graduation.

Lessons from an Unlikely Land – Reflection From the Recent Trip to Cuba by STFM

"In January 2020, 25 STFM members spent a week in Havana, Cuba, where we visited one such system—the resource-frugal health care system that the Cubans have built is admired around the world for its achievements. A major motivation in visiting Cuba was to see a model where the family doctor is central and deeply inculcated into the very design of the system."

The National Health Service Corps (NHSC) opened its application for three loan repayment programs: the NHSC Loan Repayment Program, the NHSC Substance Use Disorder Workforce Loan Repayment Program and the NHSC Rural Community Loan Repayment Program.
