Our Lady of Grace Newsletter No Images? Click here Dear Lord, help me remember what a difference it makes when I make time with You a priority in my morning. Awaken me in body and spirit each day with a desire to meet with You and to hear You speak words of affirmation, assurance and wisdom over my heart as I prepare to go into my day. Amen TERM 2 WEEK 6 JUNE 5, 2019 PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGEDear Parents/Guardians We are flying our West Australian Flag all week this week in recognition of the wonderful state we live in. As you pray with your family this week please remember to thank God for this land we live in. Today the generosity and playfulness of Our Lady of Grace staff, students and families was on full display. We collected a tremendous amount of cans for our inaugural LifeLink Day fundraiser. My thanks to the Year 6 Ministry Leaders, the Year 6 Teachers, Mrs Elliot, Mrs Gerber, Mrs Hardwicke, Miss Campbell, Ministry mentor teachers and Mrs Wandek for the organization of LifeLink Day. One of the values in our Mission Statement is charity, the charity shown by our children and families for those who have very little is commendable. The Perth Archdiocese celebrates LifeLink Week during WA Week as local Perth agencies receive generosity of the local community. The wonderful effort of our Year 6 Ministry leaders meant we had a longer lunch playing games, a disco in the MPA, walking a maze of cans, wellington boot races and sport games on the grass. The Communication Team have recorded the day and will present a video at an assembly. The lucky class who raised the most cans will be announced at the assembly on Friday. The early results for today includes the collection of; · Over 1,000 cans for Shopfront · $500.00 from gold coin donations, and · $200 worth of books sold. Plans for the transformation of the school library into “The Hive” is underway. The generosity of the P&F has meant we have been able to purchase some contemporary and flexible furnishing that will enable the wonderful collection in the library to be accessed by all children. Our students were interviewed to see what they would like in the library and whilst we are not able to find a ‘polar bear!’ we will be able to deliver on most of their ideas. We are looking for a parent who has carpentry skills as we would like to build some booths for collaborative work. The design is simple and we will supply the material, please let Mrs Ryan at the front office know if you would be able to help with this small project. Please ring 6241 9500 or admin@olg.edu.au. Eucharist Parent/child meetings were held this week. It was a wonderful opportunity to share this workshop with our Parish and school families. We look forward to welcoming all children making their Eucharist on Friday 14 June at the Eucharist Retreat. Families are invited to attend at 2.15pm to help us celebrate a Liturgy of the Word. This weekend is the celebration of Pentecost and I would ask that during the Mass you attend you pray for the children celebrating their First Eucharist and their families. Letters regarding the changes to reports have been sent in hard copy and through flexibuzz you will be receiving an email this Friday from Seqta outlining the process for login and access to the paperless report. Thank you to all teachers who are working diligently to ensure detailed and quality reports will be sent on the final day of Term 2. Gabrielle Doyle This week's assembly is presented by the students in 2B. Cake Stall: The Year 1 classes will be holding a cake stall in the multi purpose area on Friday 7th June. Please come along and support their fundraiser. A reminder to the Year 1 parents who will be baking for the cake stall that OLG has a Nut Free policy. Library Roster If your child is sick, with diarrhea or vomiting they must stay away from school for 24 hours at least. If your child is unwell with cold symptoms, flu symptoms etc please keep them at home. I am concerned at the number of children attending school who are clearly infectious and generously sharing their illness with other children and staff. Please be considerate both to your sick child and to our school community and while your child is unwell and infectious keep them at home. Gabrielle Doyle Congratulations Angelina Our sincere condolences to Oscar Westenhaver (6G), Mia (2G) and Stella (1G) Rapinese and families on the sad passing of their grandfather. You are in our thoughts and prayers. Rhyme Time Please let myself or Vicki know if you are interested. Looking forward to seeing you soon. Teresa Wandek Please find attached the Canteen Menu Alternatively you can place your child's order in the class canteen bucket. If your child's order does not go through and they have no lunch, we will supply them with a sandwich. We will no longer have additional items available due to food wastage costs. We thank you for your continued support of the canteen. Flexibuzz This is a whole school reminder for everyone to please tick the canteen box on FlexiBuzz for all future canteen related information, including updated rosters, roster swaps and reminders. This information will only be posted on FlexiBuzz, not on Facebook, so please tick the box and tell all your friends to do the same, otherwise you'll miss out. Thank you, Jemima and Peta.
