Here's a look at how we're reducing, reusing, and recycling this precious and scarce resource. Coal Barn Demolition Signals Greener FutureOne of the most prominent vestiges of coal generation in Tucson will be demolished this month at our campus on East Irvington Road. The demolition of the coal barn, a large A-frame structure that served as a storage facility, signifies TEP's dramatic shift to cleaner, renewable energy.
In the CommunityTEP volunteers will traverse 2,071 steps to honor those who lost their lives on 911 as part of the Virtual 911 Tower Challenge. The event is usually held at Arizona Stadium, but participants instead are climbing, walking or running the distance on their own on September 11 in a safer, socially distanced event.
