NSC eUpdate August 28, 2017

Please remember your colleagues and be sure to wipe down whiteboards in your classroom so that the next person can use them without having to clean them.

UCF classes will conclude at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 31 as UCF takes on Florida International University at 6 p.m. Faculty who have classes in progress at 1 p.m. may choose to conduct the portions of those sessions that come before that time.UCF will re-open for normal operations, including regular class and activity schedules, at 6 a.m. Friday, Sept. 1.

The Fall 2017 Faculty Colloquia kicks off at from noon to 1 p.m., Friday, Sept. 1, in NSC with a presentation from Deanna Sellnow, Ph.D. and Tim Sellnow, Ph.D. The two will discuss the topic, "Identifying Critical Components of Crisis and Emergency Risk Messages: International and
Inter-Agency Perspectives."

Nicholson School of Communication is hosting the NSC Student Club and Organization Open House in the atrium from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 14. Please email Doug Blemker to report your organization’s plans to participate.

As you all know, NSC's proposal for a Ph.D. in Strategic Communication is moving forward. Please share this announcement with anyone you think may be interested in enrolling in 2019.

All NSC faculty who have not yet taken a faculty photo are asked to schedule an appointment on Tuesday, Aug. 29 or Wednesday, Aug. 30 with Tommiea Jackson. These photos are used to inform our students, faculty, staff and others, who constitute NSC.

Please be advised, the fax machine (823-6360), located in NSC 233B, is being removed.  If needed, a fax machine is available inside the administrative suite, NSC room 238.

UCF Legal Studies will host an open forum to discuss the view of the legal world through the eyes of women attorneys. Moderated by Legal Studies department chair Dr. Alisa Smith, the forum will be held in UCF Global Building Room 101 from 1:30 to 2:45 p.m.

The process for requesting and activating a Qualtrics account for students, faculty and staff has changed. UCF IT has created an easy-to-follow knowledge article that details the new process. The link is below (copy and paste into your favorite browser) and can be distributed to anyone!

All UCF students, faculty and staff are welcome to attend the Interactive Computing Experiences Virtual Reality Lab grand opening at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 29 at the Barbara Ying Center room 119.

The Ninth Circuit is offering a Communications Internship working with Court Administration in Orange County. The internship is to be completed over a three-month period and is not a paid position.  Candidates should send their resumes to event@ocnjcc.org
