Combination Therapy Not Helpful for ED
Adding pentoxifylline to sildenafil therapy is not more effective than sildenafil alone, experts report in Sexual Medicine.
Their study included 58 men with ED who had taken sildenafil with "suboptimal" results.
The men were divided into two groups. One group took 400 mg of pentoxifylline three times a day in addition to sildenafil on demand. The other group took a placebo and sildenafil. The treatment period lasted for eight weeks.
The researchers assessed the men's progress with the International Index of Erectile Function (IIEF). Scores showed some improvement in the overall satisfaction domain, but not in other domains.
