Dear Friend of Duo Duo Project,
"I wish Yulin would have a Lychee festival (a tropical fruit that Yulin is also known for) not the dog meat festival," a 10-year-old girl told me in tears on one of my 16 Yulin trips before Covid-19.
I asked her why, and she said, "Because dogs are our best friends."

Through this young girl's deep and sincere emotion, I saw the hope of ending the Yulin dog meat festival and trade. I then met many more young Yulin people who all gave me the same hope.
Thanks to your support, we have sponsored many community events in Yulin and other dog-eating cities since 2014. You helped us change many hearts and minds about dogs and cats in Yulin and beyond.
Those events not only provided a much-needed venue for local people to have a close encounter with dogs and cats (most of them never had a chance) but we also brought in many modern concepts that local people had never heard of.
The two most successful concepts involve humanizing dogs and promoting them as family members, not meat: 1) the doggie birthday party, and 2) Adopt Don't Buy.

Ending this century-old habit is hard but it's not impossible.
With huge support from compassionate people like you and the devotion of Duo Duo Project's young Chinese team members, I know this cruel festival and trade will be ended.
