OPENING HOURS BETWEEN CHRISTMAS AND NEW YEAR

International Centre and International Academic Staff Services will be closed between Christmas and New Year.

The last opening day is Friday the 20th of December, 2013; and the first opening day after the holiday is Thursday the 2nd of January, 2014. It is not possible to get personal assistance at the reception or to meet employees at the IC during the Christmas break.

The Danish Agency for Labour Retention and International Recruitment is closed during the same period of time as well as the International Citizen Service (ICS) in Aarhus.

International Academic Staff Services wishes all a happy holidays and a joyous new year!

DANISH LANGUAGE CLASSES

The International Centre in cooperation with Lær Dansk offers Danish courses beginning in January and February 2014. The Danish courses are targeted foreign PhD students and researchers at Aarhus University and their spouses.

There are two types of courses:

  1. Intensive Danish Classes (Crash Courses): relevant for those who wish to learn basic Danish fast and efficiently. Deadline for intensive classes: January 6, 2014
  2. Semester Courses. Deadline for semester courses: February 5, 2014

WHAT ARE YOU DOING FOR CHRISTMAS?

The Student Congregation in Aarhus invites all students (including PhDs and postdocs) to celebrate a traditional Danish Christmas Eve on December 24, 2013.

Every year, the Student Chaplain celebrates Christmas with students who want to experience the Danish Christmas tradition. They gather a diverse international group of people with different academic backgrounds, both Internationals and Danes are very welcome.

Time, place and cost 

  • The parish community centre at Møllevangskirken, Møllevangs Allé 49, 8210 Aarhus V.
  • Meet at 3 pm, but you are also welcome to join later
  • Price: DKK 100

If you would like to participate, please send an email with your name, Student ID card number, phone number and course of study to kontor@smaa.dk, or send a text message to the secretary, Allan Wien 20 65 81 54. The deadline for signing up is Friday December 20.

AU SUMMER UNIVERSITY 2014 

AU Summer University will once again, in 2014, offer a variety of unique summer courses available for PhD students. All summer courses can now be found via their page. Through their website it is also possible to apply for the course of your choice. 

It is important to note that PhD students are also able to apply for selected Master’s courses, therefore, if you are interested make sure to visit AU Summer University's page. Application deadline:  15th of March, 2014

UIC LANGUAGE PARTNER

The UIC now offers the service of matching you with a language partner. The club has tried to provide this service for some time now, however, not enough Danes were available to participate in it. This is a great opportunity for those looking to learn the Danish language, Danish culture, or both. If you think this is something you would be interested you may contact Gitte Haahr-Andersen via email or you can check the UIC website for more information.
