Call for Applications for a Precepting Performance Improvement Pilot Project

The American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM) and the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine are now accepting applications from academic units to be sponsoring institutions in a Precepting Performance Pilot Program. This program ofference performance improvement credit for certification (previously MOC Part IV) to ABFM diplomates who provide personal instruction, training, and supervision to a medical student or resident and who participate in a teaching improvement activity. The ABFM is piloting the program before opening it up to all academic units/preceptors. Deadline to apply is February 28, 2018.

National Clerkship Curriculum Announces Spring Call for Submissions

The National Clerkship Curriculum is accepting curriculum submissions in the following areas:

• Principles of Family Medicine

• Core Presentations for Acute Care

• Core Presentations for Chronic Diseases

• Health Promotion and Disease Prevention

• Role of Family Medicine

Share your curriculum. Submissions are peer-reviewed and meet guidelines for scholarly activity. Spring call for submissions deadline is March 15.

ACGME Requests Comments on Common Program Requirements

The Phase 2 Common Program Requirements for residency programs and fellowships are available for review and comment through Tuesday, March 22, 2018. Based on input received during this public comment period, the Phase 2 Task Force will submit final proposed requirements to the ACGME Board of Directors for approval, with implementation targeted for July 1, 2019.


The proposed new fellowship requirements will apply to all subspecialty programs, regardless of program length, and will replace One-Year Common Program Requirements. Section VI of the Common Program Requirements, which was previously approved, will remain identical for both residency and fellowship programs.
