#28 Sid Shares
Here is my September monthly dose of “Sid Shares.” A list of what I’m enjoying, exploring and experiencing! This Sid Shares contains sadness, but a big topping of joy too :)
A time to say goodbye to my greatest friend Bilbo...A true lesson of gratitude for us all
25.03.2009 - 25.09.2021
It is with huge sadness, but with huge appreciation, gratitude and awe, that Bilbo (above with myself, Freddie, Beatrice and Florence last Saturday) is no longer with us. He was my very best friend and I'll miss him terribly, but I am so very very grateful to have shared twelve and a half years with the kindest being I have ever known. He never growled, complained or moped, he just lived life to the absolute full in every way. We journeyed all over the British Isles together staying in hotels and b&b's; swam in rivers, lakes and countless seas; and walked, ran and ambled our way in cities, towns, villages, fields, forests and woods with complete joy. He was, and is awesome in every way. May I live the rest of my life like he lived his...with no regrets, kindness and seeing the joy in everything. To those that knew him thank you for sharing his love and for those that didn't please
live your life like Bilbo.
There is a lesson in everything and however painful it is to be without him, I vow to be more like Bilbo. This life really is no dress rehearsal and every moment is truly special. Embrace everything, live each moment and blow the ••••••• doors off!
"Until one has loved an animal, a part of one’s soul remains unawakened.” Anatole France.
Support
I am delighted to announce we have a new member here at Meee, Paula Harding, Executive Assistant. Paula has been in place for a month and having this professional support has enabled us to focus our energies on the business and created space to spend time on ourselves. I've recently been surfing and took my gorgeous children on a mini break to London. It's so important to make time for ourselves, to renew our energy and creativity and to spend time with those important to us. How can you make this space in your life?
Relationships
Personal and professional relationships are super important and we've been investing time in networking at local business events of late. What's been great is by simply having a conversation it opens up so many opportunities to help others, but also to help ourselves. Lockdown has been tough and being able to have real people chats is great. It almost feels like something new. There is huge power in a conversation and the great thing is that we can all have one. Enjoy the freedom...
A book I've been enjoying
This book is so insightful. It's called Daily Rituals by Mason Currey and looks at the routines and working habits of 161 inspired minds. From Darwin to Tchaikovsky it shows that we are all unique and we all excel by following our own paths. As the Meee mantra goes "At your very best, how good could you be?" By the way Benjamin Franklin took daily naked air baths, Toulouse-Lautrec painted in brothels and Charles Darwin suffered from anxiety and stress. Bonkers, inspiring but true.
A poem that's so
true, poignant and well worth a read is "I'd Pick More Daisies by Nadine Stair (age 85). Thank you Paula for the recommend :)
So, head out into October with a sense of purpose, belief and be more Bilbo. And don't forget to love your loved ones...they really are irreplaceable!
